12/12 for how long? Your opinion...

This may sound like a newbie question (though I am not so much) but I need some true clarification.

On my last grow (my first), I set the lights to 12/12 from when my plants were about 14" right until harvest...the buds were smaller than I expected...quite disappointing!

On my current grow (week 3) I have the lights set at 24hrs. When it's time to flower, how long should I keep 12/12? I heard the more darkness the better as darkness supports flowering (but I could be wrong)?

Thanks.

When you're ready to flower, switch to 12/12 until they are done. This is the easiest fail proof way

12/12 is your best bet for flowering, you also want to go atleast 10 weeks in flowering to get the most possible out of your girls

About 8 weeks for an indica variety, and about 10 weeks for a sativa.... The best way to tell when the plant is ready for harvest is when the hairs on the buds turn brown/amber.. You wanna wait til at least 60% of the hairs have changed.

the best way to tell when they are done is with a scope, look at the trich's when they are mostly amber your good to go. they change clear to cloudy to amber best to harvest when cloudy to amber with no clear or very little

what lights do you use and how close do you keep em, sounds like you dn't hav enuff or you set your expectations to high

yea your not goin to realistcally pull pounds off your plants everytime (or anytime if your me :)) when your ready to flower 12/12 is what you wanna do, at the very least for 8 weeks, but you will deff need a magnifiying glass to check the trichomes and the hairs should be 70% amber
