12/12 from start to finish?

What would happen if this was done? I always see every site posting that you must start with 18 but this is never found in nature. Or similar such as start 12/12 then move to 10/14. I take it it would be fine since that is natural sunlight time but would it automatically switch ver to flower itself and what is the usual amount of time it statys in veg if anyone knows?
