12/12 to sex plant?

Do any of you use the method of putting your vegging plant under 12/12 lighting to sex it then once you know, putting it back under its normal veg light cycle? Reason i ask is because I had a seedling that I had under 18/6 for 2-3 weeks, then decided I wanted to see what would happen if I put it in my flower area. Kept it under 12/12 for probably another 2 weeks, then decided AGAIN that the growth was too slow so I put it back under 18/6 lighting (kept it under 24 hours for a few days first). After a week or so of 18/6 it started growing very weird, large, semi- smooth edged 5 blade leaves and eventually went back to its normal 7 and 9 blade leaves and it also has some calyxes now. The whole reason for this post is I want to know if any of you use a similar method and if there is a higher chance that my female plant will hermie once I really do put her in flower due to the wild light cycles she experienced before settling back down under 18/6

One thing I feel i should mention, is this plant popped out if the soil with alternating nodes and what im assuming was 3 cotyledon leaves. Right after the it threw out an ugly ass 5 blade leaf and kept alternating from there. It was a really odd looking plant for awhile but it looks fairly normal now. Topped the main stalk once and topped a big fat shoot directly before that so she has 4 "tops" now basically. Here is a top view that was taken last week
