12 plants under a 1000 watt light what should i yield??

i have a 4x4 space that fits 12 5gallon buckets just fine... there 1x1 each thats 4 rows of 4, your saying it wont cover that fine?... i was interested to this myself as im thinking of replacing my 2 400w's

So, original poster, here's the ACTUAL ANSWER to your question. Your yield from a single 1000w lamp is generally about 2 Lbs per harvest. Sometimes lower, 1.5 Lbs or sometimes higher, 2.25Lbs max for me. Each strain yields differently.

It isnt about how many plants you have under a light, its about making sure the top canopy of plants is non stop green for the entire square. That's it!

I wish I could -rep people for some of their stupid advice they post just for trying to get +rep wrongly.

you should be baned from this site for giving out bad info like that. theres no way your pulling that much off a 1,000 watt. I grow 9 per 4 x 4 table and barley pull 18 zips. 12 plants is to much and he can expect 3 quarters of a pound roughly

With regards to the original post, dude you got a whole bunch of bad advice, if I were you I would Read, Read , Read....It's amazing how many experts gave you horrible advice.. Here's a little more, look at the amount of posts of the person you are getting advice from, seems to me the longer someone has been here that maybe, just maybe that person with over 7000 post's would have the best advice... And once again KITTY has no idea what she is talking about no matter how hard she stomps her feet... Peace
 
No feet stomping here. Just still waiting for the peanut gallery who keeps saying we're wrong to say *why* we are wrong. So far, nothin. :) And Sticky, no wonder you harvest so little, you have puny plants. =P
 
haha ya they dont realize the basic principles of plants. they more foliage you have and the more robust root system you have, which you get with more veg time, greatly increases the yield of the plant. this is caused because that excess foliage you have, which you dont have with lower veg time, increases the amount of energy available to build those BIG buds which increase your yield. the more robust root system helps by being able to supply more nutrients and water to the buds and fan leaves. look at my two i have in my sig. they still arent going in to flowering for another two weeks. they gonna yield big time. hoping for a qp outa each. then a couple ounces each outa the other 4. but they have a ways to go.
 
ok so i am going to add my little tidbit of advice among a feeding frenzy of posts but here it goes.

i am using a 4x4 space and i would say that if you're a first time grower theres no way you can ask this question and get one answer because there are simply too many factors involved. what strain? veg/flower time? did you lose any growth due to sickness? how close is your light? and how much room each plant has to grow.

if you veg longer you're obviously going to lose space there's no math needed to imagine this.. if you keep your plants shorter and train them well you can fit 12 plants in a 4x4 easily. it may seem like more plants is going to equal more bud but trust me, vegging that many plants for more than 6 weeks and you will run into space trouble for sure. ive got 8 plants vegged for 8 weeks in a 4x4 and they are running out of space. and i did run into a few problems that slowed my growth so they would probably be even bigger.

if you train them well then you can fit 12 plants in a 4x4 with enough space as long as they are short enough. of course you'll have to rotate and move the ones on the edges to the middle to try to balance out the light. it can be done but i wouldnt expect optimum results. especially since its your first grow there's a lot to understand when trying to pack weight onto those buds.

but if you ask me i think that 6-8 plants is plenty under a 1000w in a 4x4. that way you can take more time focusing on each plant. work on building your root system. more roots = more yield and trust me in the long run it cuts back costs and labor of water/transplanting ect every plant. i believe that less than 10 plants = more production when in a confined space like a 4x4. if the plants are all over each other inside the tent then you have too many in there. there's plenty of things you can do to fit more plants in a smaller area. i once knew a guy who flowered 36 in a 4x4 all were like 2ft max. he swears by this method but i don't necessarily agree with it.

in the end its all about the care you take when researching and working on your plants. i would say stick with 8 plants and you won't be disappointed. as for how much you'll yield?? well if you dont know what it's like to produce fine quality flowers then you should be happy if you got anywhere near 3/4 of a lb. expect the least and be happy with more! start perfecting your methods and you should be able to reach almost 2lbs per 1k light. this is just my opinion and in no way takes into account your experience and grow environment. hope this helps!

you dont know shit from shit. you probably grow red bud. with the info your giving. 12 plants veged for 50 says thats str8 out stupid. they wouldnt even fit in a 4 x 4 area the extra plants would be a waste. waste of soil waste of time waste of money.and 1.5 pounds mayby if your really gud but not with 12 plants bunched up on a 4x4 space. but 2.5 pounds your flat out retarded. thats why you are a women stick to the laundry and stop giving faulty ass advice and getting the poor guys hopes up. go do some more research miss kitty cat
 
here's proof that strain makes a HUGE difference when talking about space. the one in the back is chem dawg (sativa) it only vegged for a week longer than the rest and is about 2-3 feet taller than the rest. you cant even see the top cuz its almost hitting the roof.

the rest are various kinds of kush and kush hybrids (indica). these are all under a 1k super hps and the chem dawg has a few daylight cfls on the cola.

make sure you pick the right strain when thinking about how many plants you want to have inside a 4'x4'

thats 8 plants by the way and next round ill probably do six since the majority are chem dawgs:bigjoint:

haha thank you mygirls for setting these peeps straight. disrespecting kitty when she is right and seems to know her shit. dont know as much about weed growing but am a botany major and know a lot about the biology and anatomy and physiology of plants

shit on my first grow i yeild 1/2 pound dry off 4 plants under a 250watt hps/ ebb and flow.i ran in to a few problems..lol .. maybe i was born with two big green thoumbs.. .5 per watt is ok any more is a bonus...happy grows

Really? I have read 100 times that a good grower should be able to pul about a gram a watt. Thats about 2.2 lbs aint it? Just because you can only yeild 2 zips a plant under 1000 watts doesnt mean an RIU member should be banned. It means you should be reading more and typing less.
