i know someone who has been using that light and ballast for 3 years now... no issues yet. well he had a bad bulb and they replaced it.. only thing i would suggest is having an extra bulb on hand.. nothing would suck more than to have a bulb go bad w/o a replacement in the middle of a grow lol.

Did the yield suffer from the cooltube? I have a grow buddy who can't seem to get past 1 1/2 oz with a 400w. I have narrowed it down to his reflector. Just wondered. Hit me back

Suffer? Hell no. You can get the tops closer with a cooltube. Check out the euro cooltube reflector, maybe that's the difference? It's not like the pyrex bake around types. 1 1/2 ounces per plant? he should focus on spreading the canopy out.

Good but the digital Ballast from HTG is supper quite and saves about 30 percent electricity which will pay for itself in a few months.
BTW,,, HTG is the BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!,,,,, check out there ebay store. (its down for a few days while they move there warehouse)

His tops are within 4 inches of the tube. And funny you mention the euro, I told him yesterday thats what he should try switching to. He just chopped down a few days ago and 4 plants yielded around 1 1/2 oz. Maybe we can get him straightened out.

i got one as well, buy it!!! shipping took a week to get to the west coast. came in a plain box. it shines the same as a 300 dollar one. the hood is cheap and small, but its only 125 bucks, aint nothing cheaper

i bought that one for the same price if not less almost 4 years ago still works good im upgrading soon to a nextgen 400 600 though but not cus my ballast isnt working

No matter what kind of hood, really, 1 1/2 ounces from 400w leaves a lot of room for improvement. I'll help him out all I can. Just let me know.
