Upstairs of townhouse. I have entry to attic in a closet area outside of the bedroom. I'll be cutting 6" holes in the drywall for ducting to exhaust to attic and to blow fresh air in. (I'd rather repair wall holes than ceiling ones). What I had in mind was a 4 light setup with cooltubes. I need input and ideas, $1,200 budget.

I can't tell if this is a joke or not. Sorry I don't have input to help you but I definitely think you can get that set up with $1,200..

Start with a single 1000 w HPS and a 4' 8 bulb T5. Veg under the T5 and then switch to the HPS for flower. That should cost you around 700 or 800. If you want ducting and an inline fan it will be at least 200 more. You will also want to pick up some b/w poly to block out windows and an oscillating fan. Spend the rest on good quality seed, soil and nutes. Expect to spend around 70 - 80 dollars more a month for electric. You will also want to get some cloning gel, heat mat and humidity dome. It will be tough for 1200$ but this setup will allow you to perpetual grow and you should make your money back and then some after first harvest.

1000w ballast 200$ x4 = 800
1000w bulb 65$ x4 = 260
cool tubes 100$ x4 = 400

You are already over budget and you dont have seed, soil, nutes, or ducting.

Thanks...htg has 1000w lights with bulb, ballast, and cooltube for $257 each...I'm only worried about lighting and venting...I have a planting partner with me...I need help with the proper way to vent and cool the setup...how much bud would I compromise if I used 400w lights?

How much cfm inline fan do I need to exhaust? And how much cfm blower do I need to bring air in? How many of each?

use 2 inline fans one for each pair of tubes 435cfm would do nicely. valueline 6" is what i suggest. run them setup like this

carbon filter>>>>>>duct>>>>>>cool tube 1>>>>duct>>>>cool tube 2>>>>>>>duct>>>inline fan>>>attic or wherever you wanna exhaust. runt hem like that side to side. you can run the intake off a y split to the same filter to save cash just make sure the CFM of the filter matches the fans

you dont need blower for intake the negative pressure will pull in air just make sure you have some place for fresh air intake

So leave carbon filter(s) in the growroom and the air being sucked in it will cool the lights and create a good plant habitat?

4000 watts in a bedroom? Are you an electrician? I would prob put some more time in research before you take this size of a project on ..

I'd never pay 200$ for a ballast! 100$ is a fair price for a magnetic ballast kit! 1200$ sounds about right for this project, might needs few adjustment here and there but sounds like a kick ass start!

I'm no electrician but I would just run extension cords and make sure the lights are on the separate breakers. I am considering 400w though...what would be the bud differential if I went green to save some energy?

well 400 to 1000 watters will be a huge difference .. in quality and DEF quanity....But 4 different extension cords running to 4 different rooms around the house is a fire hazard waiting to happen.. you need a heavy gauge extension cord to run 12 hrs of 9+ amps on each circuit... the point I was trying to make is there is tons more to a grow of that scale then just lights and fans ..... To be honest you really should have a 240v line ran to that room if you plan a grow of that scale...

I hope also you understand the time that will be consumed by a garden that big.. a 4000 watt grow will take hours a day to maintain.. ALOT of supplies .. I wouldnt even attempt that big of a grow with less then 3k in pocket. If something goes wrong and you need to fix it.. its gonna cost money trust me. Plus expect a few hundred bucks added to your elect bill per month.. it will take atleast 3-5 months before you get a harvest.. thats 500- 1000 bucks in electricity before you even smoke your first bud.

Thanks, I will check the ampage on my unutilized dryer plug...I'm good with the finances of the operation, 1200 is just for budget of lights and vent installation only...I just need your guys "experterience." I'm a recently laid off general constuction laborer with time on my hands. I have a partner who's wealthly and will be there for emergency expenses anytime. I'm good at following directions and I will post results.

extension cords cause fires i would try not to run them if you can avoid it
