12x12 Grow room

I'm currently setting up a 12x12 grow room. I've done some growing in the passed but never using this big of a grow room. I currently have a 400 watt MH and a 600 watt hps. I was going to go by 3 more 1000 watt MH/HPS. Will that be enough to cover this entire room for both vegation stage and flowering stage? Also how many plants would be ok to grow under this amount of space and light. In all it would equal to be 1000 watts with the mix of hps and mh bulbs. Thank you and I appreciate the inputs.

Should be plenty of light. Amount of plants you want to grow will vary on how you want to grow them and what kind you grow. Any where from 10 to over 100.

I don't know what your experience growing is, but if you have to ask the questions you are asking, you are in over your head with that big of a grow. You say "cover the area for flower & vegetation", I'm assuming you know that those must be 2 separate rooms, unless your not doing a perpetual grow & vegging in your flower room. How are you going to deal with the tremendous heat generated by those lights? Like what was said above me, it depends on your style. I run 4 lights with 4 plants (in 20 gal pots) & I am pulling 3/4 of a pound per plant.(should be 1 lb, but it a work in progress.) Some people would run 30 palnts in the same space I'm doing 4.

I think you misunderstood, I plan on vegging and then once time to flower changing it 12 -12. No seperation (vegging, flowering) in the same. room. I have grown for 10 years but only once indoors as I am getting to old to go water my crop. The grow I did indoors wasn't this big but that's why I am asking the "pros" how much lighting I will need. I plan on doing 50 feminized northern light plants. They tend to stay short outdoor and I'm assuming the same would happen indoors. 4000 watts plenty enough for 50 northernlights in a 12x12 room? I appreciate the input and look foward to hearing to what everyone has to say.

Ideally you would want about 5200w for a 12x12 room if you go by the 50w per square foot thing. But if you space out the 4000w right you should be okay.

Oops...bad math. You would want 7200w for 12x12...so 4000w is not going to be near enough...unless maybe you use light overs...

It would if you had to. Gets it cooled hoods to help with that. With 50 plants in that space I wouldn't veg much more than a week or 2 though. I'd get some flood tables I you wanna go that way. Sog or scog. 4000 would be a goo match for the room though. Roughly 4x4 per 1000w is a good amount for coverage.

1K lights each right? 20 gal pots sound effing huge! strong back? I wonder if you moved up from 5 gals and why?

Yes. If your going to run that many plants they will take over your space. Have to keep light coverage and penetration in mind.
