12x12 Room! Ideal setup???

Hey RIU friends! So, I've got a extra 12x12 bedroom that I want to make into a grow room. I've always grown in smaller areas so I don't know what way to go. Soil or hydroponics? Nutes? Lighting? Etc... All advice will be greatly appreciated! Have a good one! :bigjoint:

imo....if your going to grow many plants go hydro using a res.( this will save you alot of time).... If only a few plants, I'd go with some fox farm soil. Myself, I like soil growing with all organic fertilizers, seems to make everything taste better....but, when I'm dealing with many plants, I'd rather watch the timer/pump water my ladies ...beats the hell out of being in my grow room for a few hours each watering.

Advanced Nutrients difinitely worth the money BUTTT you dont need the whole product line.

Get the base

A&B Grow/Bloom
Big Budz
B52
Overdrive

I have about all of their product and didnt notice a big difference adding more than these..

The Super Blue Bulb is an excellent choice as well. Way better than a Sylvania bulb.

2x 1000w air cooled, exactly what i am actually running... I'd go hydro but remember, a good soil grow will harvest just as much as an hydro grow will. You can setup a cheap drip system for soil grow and you will most likely harvest the same you would have if you had gone hydro.

Do you plan using the whole 12x12 with 2000w of lightning? I think 12x12 most likely need 4x 1000w OR at least 4x 600w

Ya if you plan on useing the whole 12'x12' you will need at least 4 600. I run 4 1,000's in my 12x12. If I didn't already have all my lights I would have went with 5 600's.

Thanks on the Advanced Nutrients info. You saved me a lot of money. What do you think of Bud Candy? I've read a lot of good things about it. I was thinking of adding it to the Nutes you recommended. I am planning on using the whole room. I will add 2 more 1000w. Does anyone know of a good place to buy the equipment online or in CA for a good price?

I'm going to use Lumatek 1000 Watt electronic ballasts. Should I go with 120v or 240v?
Since you will most likely have to run some electrical to the room anyways, go with 220. You'll have lower amp draw and can easily run your 4x1k or 6x600 in there of one 220v circuit.

A quick point I want to make. If you are going with this bulb then it only comes in 1000w so scratch the 600's. I use those and like the idea of not changing them along with full spectrum for the plants the whole time. Also, the cheapest place I've seen as pointed out in the best deals thread is here

Hanging vertical bulbs have no active cooling, but can provide *more* light in some configurations... especially vertical grows!

I have read that the EYE's don't work so well with the Lumatek. Reliabilty issues. Lumatek claims that Hortilux changed something in their manufacturing process. Ushio HPS, and Sunpluse MH work well.

Actually, it's called Big Bud, not Big Budz - though that is what you get in the end. LOL. And it's one of my favorite Advanced Nutrients products. Hands down. Amazing results.

I might just add Voodoo Juice to the line up if it fits into your budget. Seems to really make a difference for me when I get the chance to use it.

Other than that, can't really add to anything more to anything else that others have said.

You've gotten some awesome advice here - another reason I love RIU.

Looks like you're on the right track to an awesome grow.

I have 2 1000w eye's running on Lumatek digi's. I have had zero problems.

I was warned about fiddling with the dimmer knob while the bulb is on, so I haven't done it ... now I'm warning you.

when you gain more knowledge. House? Apt?

1k watts here in a spare bedroom. 8 air stones in an Igloo 120 qt 5 day cooler, a dwc.

scrog?

What kind of budget?

20-10-20 through out most of the cycle. Then a little Bloom Boost of 4-18-38
in the flower stage.

Every body is different when it comes to nutes. This is what works for my girls and they seem to like it.

cool tubes suck bulbs up really bad bro,i use a single 400 hps for 6 plant 4x4,It is made by c.a.p the light is the Xtreme with 8 in vent holes and paid $105 plus tax really nice hood and can't beat the price!and look into a track it helps cover a large area with less light like two 1000w mh/hps for 12x12 room, and grow in soil it is alot more forgiving than hydro and the buds taste in my opinion much better!!fox farm's soils rock and i use big bloom in veg and flower and in flower i add tiger bloom the stuff works great, fox farm's sells packs of three the first pack comes with grow big tiger and big bloom.the second pack is open sesame beatie bloom and cha ching!Like i said i just use big and tiger and it is only $16.00 a bottle the reason i just use those two is fox farm nute chart uses them through out the grow and the others are just added a couple of times!!good luck bro!!!!!!!!

I'm currently using GH's line of fruit punch, with Koolbloom. I'm not super stoked on the overall POW of my budz. Can I replace the Koolbloom with Big Bud straight across? (Flood and drain btw)

All this is great info, thanks calloftheancient for posting this thread. I'm joining with a seasoned grower and am trying to get the basics. What are nutes? Is it a stage or what? I'm about to do two 12x12 rooms with 2 600w hps lights each and minimal chemicals.

Any information on chemicals for each stage would be great. Like what pH is good? How much water? We usually switch from 12/12 light to 14off/10on to get them to bud. Is this good? Anything useful would be great.
