how would 14 hours dark and 10 hours sun light affect a plant? i read that when u give ur plant 12 hours of uninteruped dark that the plant produces a hormone that causes it to flower. I also read that light destroys that hormone. could giving ur plant more sleep have positive affect? i have noticed that my plant grows at night; about an inch.

It'd trigger flowering because the plant thinks that it's autumn and the grow season is going to end. So she pushes herself into flowers.

The plant shows more growth because it's stretching out. looking for light. This helps make room for buds, but won't produce more buds. Darkness is needed to promote hormone growth but a certain part of the light spectrum is used for dense bud production. With a 10-14 cycle you may produce more hormone but it's not needed. Plenty is produced in 12hrs. I would use those extra hours for light not darkness, but that is what this is all about is personalizing your grow, so do what you think is right.
