15 on 15 off for rainforest 66 sprayer. Sound alright?

Ok so my rainforest 66 has been showing some very poor/slow growth. I am thinking this is due to one of a few things. Firstly, res temps. I don't have a meter for the water ATM but will soon (amateur status i know). In the meantime I am thinking if I put a basic timer on the sprayer i can set it for 15min on 15min off. Ideally i would like a nice loop timer for 4 on 1 off, but funds are limited. The on off would help cool the Rez by minimizing motor heat saturation, though I am not sure how much heat is transferred in this design.

Among other ideas I want to sort this first. I am also moving the air pump for the Rez into a cooler area. Pumping cooler air into the Rez is a cheap and simple way to drop the temps, if only slightly.

So please post up your experiences with using standard timers on an aeroponoc/sprayer system. Thanks

Thanks for the replies. I am putting the timer in today. In reality, it couldn't be mich worse growth than it is now. Hah.

I think i will Start dropping frozen water bottles in the Rez to help.

Well i couldn't find my 15min timer, so it's 30on 30 off. Lol. We'll see how it goes, I'm going to transplant one plant into some coco for comparison and to perhaps save it. I really don't like the rainforest 66 unit, I'm totally over it. I've never had this slow of growth since my first grow (oh hey it was in this unit).

Well the plants seem to be responding well to 30/30.I was surprised that they didn't just keel over. After a Rez change tomorrow I think I can salvage these plants a bit.

find any new timers? Ive been looking at building my own rubbymaid set up but id want to arduino controller so i can expand the system to hp aero in the future and use the same microcontroller for 2 second bursts. I guess its kinda diff because id try to run a 12v system due to power outages during peak season here at home

I'm having the same problem karr. I have 2 posts going on and my plants were pretty much dying but through your post I've figure it out. They are just getting way too much water so I am going to run a timer at 15/15. I have 2 rainforest 66's and the veg growth is so damn slow. Only 4 out of the 12 plants are really taking off.

1) 1 minute on/ 5 minutes off will keep the temps down
2) Bigger rez will keep temps down for a longer time
3) Try to get a chiller used.. they can be had for 50 bucks...

good luck
