hey i know that this sounds stupid, but i havent even read up about it just please if you know waht your talking about give advice.
i have never grown with a 150 watt hps but i wanna see how the yeild would be with 1 150 on 1 plant. would i need an entire ballast hood socket assembly ect..?
or could i run this on a regular light? its only 150 watts LOL.

Not sure what you mean by running it on a regular light, but you can use a regular house inlet, if that's what you mean.

You won't grow high times quality nug with a 150...or at least, not in any significant quantity. IMHO, you need a 250 or better.

I use a 400 watt and would suggest that wattage to any personal grower, to avoid disapointment.

you can not fit an hps bulb into a regular light socket.. they take what are called a mogul socket.. but they do sell hps's that don't need an external ballast.. i have an older hydrofarm hps that has the hood and the ballast built right in.. i just had to hang the hood, and plug the hood into the outlet and i was ready to rock.. very conveinet...
a 150 watt hps would be fine for one plant from start to finish.. i think they still make the hoods that don't need anykind of external ballasts, you just need to look around and find one...

okay good thats what i thought.
i found a nice all in one system at my local grow shop for only 80$ :)
this isnt to accually grow lol i have a 1000w hps i am expirementing.
i may start a journal just for the flowering period so people can see how a 150 hps can yeild you.
thank you all for your help, and hope your yeilds show a great increase.

fast question how much room is the smallest you think i can use?
3x3x8 i was thinking atleast4x4x8.?

i made a 2.5'x2.5' flower box and used the 150w Sunsystem enclosed ballast combo reflector.

I got around a half O per plant with sweet tooth, and did get over an 0 with both Lemon og and Northern lights. The sweet tooth had some bad nutrient lock out, otherwise wouldhave yielded more. and as mentioned, you won't get the Tightest/densest buds possible, It WILL be fluffy. I had two plants in at a time, about 4-5 weeks apart. I do not have pics, but the northern in my avatar was originally under the 150wHPS, but for the last 3 weeks has moved into the 400w box.

I would recomend the 150 only if you're growing personal, and wouldn't mind starting small. 250 will be wayy better, and 400 even more so. The air cool-optioned SunSystem 2 250wHPS is a great option, you can keep your bills down, and keep the light closer for better penetration

two 150's would be sweet, you could have a nice perpetual system going..

thank you for all the input everyone has given, so everyone does know though i said it before also this is experimental, i have a 1000w hps setup for my real grow. but my stuff is still in veg:)

1/2 an oz per plant with that setup?>??

i'm no experienced grower by any means but i got 20 grams off a plant under 2 42 watt and 3 26 watters, took me around 80 days seed to harvest (harvested about 1-1.5 weeks early due to security concern)... i used miracle grow plant food, 2 dollar soil, tap water, under lit for the first month and a half, over watered all the time, nute burn, temp burn, you name it, i did it... it was my first grow....

i think you should've done a lil better with all that 400 watts/C02/timers/buzzers/knickknacks.......

My sun system 150w HPS Ran Underwater and Fell from It's chain and still works great I have nothing but good things to say about them I think The flooded Growlight Is On youtube too It was F'in crazy

I have no problem with bud density either nice and firm

yea usually on my sunblaze44(veg 1 month)600 hps ( its what i had, i just bought my 1000w)(9 weeks)i would run off around 45-170 with 2-4 plants ussually 2(bout 80 usually.)

I'm using 2 150 watt hps for 4 plants. it's working great. you will still need a ballast to power the bulb.

most people underestimate what you can do with 150w
