I was just wondering if anyone had any idea of the ideal distance to keep a 150HPS away from plants? I dont wanna scorch them but want too get the best light spread. I mean I've seen 150's in little micro grows and I wanna put one in a Rubbermaid setup that is 39"(3.25') tall. Advice from anyone would be much appreciated.

only real option with that is lowryders or some other kind of autoflowering midget or midget plant, even clones need more than a foot of height for SOG, man cause the light and the pot will take up almost a couple feet that leaves you will a foot of plant....or am I missing something?

No that sounds about right. Because if I did throw that HPS in there I would certainly have to cooltube it and it would probably take up a bunch of space. But I wanna HPS sooooo fuckin bad because of the lumen output. I just wanna know how the fuck micro-growers do so well with a 70w in a fuckin PC case??? I mean I think I could do a 150 in a 3ft tall rubbermaid...but I have never grown b4 so I might just stick with CFL's.

stick with cfl's man until your ready, or have a better space. look into ScrOg, you'll be able to up your yield majorly in that small space. I would highly suggest going HID maybe find a new grow space? HID is worth is for sure man...I'll never go back, cfls have their place, but HID is a place above. cut your teeth with those cfls if you can get like 6 or 8 in there you could grow some nice buds. And with HPS your area would be so small I would suggest just having a strong exhaust fan so that it got the heat from the light and the grow area, a cooltube in there would be unnecessary. just a small batwing would be the most space effective and then just have a good strong fan like even 300cfm (not super powerful) if you were in that range I think you would be totally exchanging the air in there each second, that would keep a 150 as cool as it needs to be.

with cfls you wanna cover the plant as much as possible with your small space that means bulbs on the walls and roof to get the plant to grow out equally as it grows up.

Ya I think I know quite a bit about CFLs and where to mount them in my setup but I dont think I could get away with a scrog. Only because I would have to mount the screen to the tub wouldnt I? n then I wouldnt be able to access the lower portion of the plant. Unless I made some sort of door or only attached the screen to the pot but I was think about tryin LST. I mean I have 7sq ft inside the tubs(without ne thing inside though). A 133cfm fan would exchange air every 3 seconds which I think is pretty damn fast. So thanks for responding and if you've got ne more ideas let me know cause I'm tryin to learn as much as possible b4 I grow. do you think a 150 would melt the top of a rubbermaid? The dimensions of the actual tub are 39"h x 14"w x 22"l just to give you a visual. Do you know how to get pics into a thread cause I dont even know where to start.
