Hi to all , as i'm new to this site i want to thank you all for your help .. I wanted to ask a question .
which of the two bulbs will consume more energy a 150w hps or a 300w cfl and which will be more affective for the plant ?? 150w hps = approximate 15000 lumens
300w cfl = approximate 18000 lumens.

It's probably a 300w equivalent CFL which is more around 65 true running watts. I don't know which would be better I've never used CFL, but looks like their pretty comparable if the cfls are the right spectrum.

if i use cfl it would be dual spectrum and would be used for both veg and flowering ( bdw 300w true wattage ) but if i use hps only for flowering and for veg i will use about 150w cfl 6000k true wattage.

best results use all 3 hps metal halide and cfl cfl being cheapest to run as stated 78 watts actual power consumpution on 300w cfl but more the merry hps and cfls go hand in hand as the running temp of a hps is hot so distance from plants is greater on the other hand cfls can be hung below the canopy with out the leaves burning which can not be achieved with hps this in turn provides more light to the lower parts of the planrs letting you obtain greter yeilds come harvest time but there is over kill hope this helps

yes i was going to use cfls as side lamps and for the hps i'm going to fit it in a cool tube to get rid of most heat for heat is an issue. im all ready growing a lowryder using cfls and the temp is about 28 C about 97 F but im thinking about setting up in an other place with very good ventilation.
