Hello everybody, I had my first grow this summer and it turned out chronic, but not much yield. I once tried a DWC setup with a friend but things went kinda bad. now that that's over and i have my own place now, i decided too give indoor growing another shot. I have two friends that grow hydro and learned a lot from them. I am using a strain that my buddy discovered. it is a HUGE yielding sativa. and he grew it with all CFLs and got over a pound. Here are some pics of his last grow so i can show u what hopefully mine will end up looking like.

HOLY SHIT, CFLs? CRAZY. That's what i said.
This is the breakdown on my setup.
Lighting: I have 1 150watt HPS light. I also have 3 CFLs hanging on the HPS hood. I think mixing lights is a good idea. It seems more realistic. I also just added 1 CFL on a copper wire so i can revolve it around the plant. Or wherever it looks needed.
Air Flow: I have a smaller fan that sits on and blows through the light... it keeps it pretty cool. I also have a 50cfm exaust fan that pulls air out of the closet. I leave my window open if it gets 2 hot. There is a digital humidity and temp. reader. So if I will know if I have to raise the lights on warmer days so i dont burn the girl. I'm going 2 get an AC intake for my next grow.
Hydro Choice: I chose Ebb and Flow. I think this is the best because, everytime it floods it push old air out and sucks new air in as it drains. Also there is not a single area that does not get wet. So the roots never have to look far for water. In return the plant focuses more on growing and flowering. Instead of searching for water. I have 1 10 gallon res and 2 15 leter containers to hold the plants in, with hydroton in them. I am only using 1 right now because my sativa plant is to big, i can only grow 1 plant in my closet. I have an air pump above the res. I have to air stones and as the water drains back in it creates oxygen. There is so much oxygen in the res! I think the plant loves it.
Nutes: I am using Flora Nova for my nutes. I really like these nutes because there is no mix or anything. You just have to add tea spoons according to whats on the label. I don't have anything to check my ppm with so i change my res weekly. I ran into a problem today. Yesterday I added in an additive called (PyroSol). Anyone use it before??? I really would like to hear good things about it? So please let me know if you know anything about it. Anyways, I added a little to much nutes and got a little burn. Also, I have had no problems with my PH until I added this. I got it at about 5.5 last night, and it was at about 6.8 this morning. Any thoughts. But Flora Nova= good shit.
Here are some crappy pics from last week. I need a better camera or i need to take the pics with the lights off. I think that is a bad idea though because this plant might turn Hermie w/ some stress. Her mom did but she still got you so HIGH. She yielded a little over a pound. She was under all CFLs though. A whole lot of them.
