1600 watts is that enough for 12-20 plants?

that sound about right? could 1600 watts handle 12 plants? what size?

depends on what size...600w could be enough if you were pushing them to flower from seed. they'd only get to about 2' tall and wouldn't need anything bigger than a 1 gallon pot. to get 20 plants under 1600w you would need to keep them small. the less plants the bigger than can be.

so how many? I thought the rule was 100 watts per plant, or something?

also each girl that is under my 600 is like 2 feet tall? currently have 5

watts per square feet are useless in my opinion. the footprint of a 600w light is 4x4. so depending on how many you can fit in that footprint. 2' tall plants can be anywhere from 8" wide to 2' wide. just depends on technique, strain, and any training you do.

I would say 1600w can do 12-20

12 plants 3ft or so tall making 3-4 oz per plant with 1600w is pretty standard

you should google what lumens are. they mean nothing in plant growth. really. they are the amount of light visible to the human eye. bulbs are rated in lumens cause that's how they always did it because lights were used to illuminate for humans. when finding lights for plants you should look at footcandles, PAR value, and obviously spectrum.

there is such thing as too much light. since footcandles are stackable you risk harm to the plants if you exceed 10,000 footcandles in any area.

not all plants fit into a 1sq.ft. area. actually most of the plants grown wouldn't. takes a pretty small plant to stay inside a box like that.

i would agree with you about plants under a light
i have 4 plants under 2x 600w hps 2 in soil and 2 in a bubbler
but have seen 100 under a 600w hps, sog 1ltr pots

kinda funny how you say you aren't new anymore but that post was just 2 weeks ago actually. you stated that you have never grown before. just pointing out the obvious. why would you state that you have never grown before when you actually have "6 years" of experience? seems kinda contradictory to me. looking at your other posts and started threads i think it's pretty hard to imagine that you have been growing at all in the last 6 years.
