Oklahoma City bombing 168 dead by 1 man and a truck full of fertilizer. I demand fertilizer control now!! I don't even need an ID to buy it let alone a background check, but I can damn near level a building. Interesting.
umm..its tough buying commercial amounts of fertizier.....There are rules and regulations you have to abide by- Same as guns should have.

I enjoy shooting. We have federal laws and licensing to help make sure the crazy's don't have access to guns.
Works well. People are led to belive that rules and laws and licensing and gun regestrations means ALL MY GUNS WILL BE TAKEN AWAY. When it doesn't.

Have you ever considered that the right to bear arms is to protect you from government?
Yes I have, and it's a ridiculous argument. This isn't the 1700's when "the government" was armed with muskets. If our government ever turned on the people, your shotgun and 9mm ain't going to save you from shit. Think about it.

There are some reasonable arguments to be made for gun ownership, but defending yourself from a government that has tanks, missiles, and drones isn't one of them.

Whats ridiculous is the fact that you think those tanks, missiles, and drones will be manned by american soldiers IF the country were to ever declare war against its citizens. Truthfully, do you think that american soldiers will turn their guns on unarmed citizens if so ordered? Keep in mind current political climate and increasing protests.

but only in one country can someone shoot 600 people in one sitting.
Noted for effect, but just not true. This tragedy could happen in any democracy
This also isnt the only democracy where military style weaponry ends up in civilian hands, yet no one probes the military.
Also not the only democracy where guns end up in the hands of people who cant afford them like inner city youth.

Yes change is needed but what makes you think gun laws alone need change? Have you ever considered that the right to bear arms is to protect you from government?

How about more research in treating mental illnesses and less lobbying for more gun control, wouldn't solve our problem? We may even learn more about the real causes of mental illness. We already know where the guns come from. Or maybe we survey gun owners and see why they feel the need to have these arsenals. Maybe we learn about what the peoples fears are instead of voting away their rights.
You're doing exactly what I'm talking about. And another year goes by and some crazy white guy will kill a whole bunch of people and we will have this discussion again.

The irony of the government attacking its own citizens is that they will end up killing a lot of old white people

From about 1980 to now gun ownership has dropped from 50% of all households to 34% and there is no sign of this trend ending just yet. We are close to a tipping point where the only thing protecting gun nuts from owning an arsenal of killing machines is the approval from the majority of non-gun owners. That approval is slipping too.

Not too long before the political will is against people owning killing machines.

They have before. They shot the students protesting Vietnam on college grounds. I don't remember the state..Neil Young or someone wrote a song about it...

Only people who suffer from gross ignorance and cowardice would vote to suspend the rights of honorable citizens to bear arms. Literally THE MOST moronic arguement one can make regarding administration of right/privileges.
The numbers are against gun owners. There are simply too many preventable deaths and injury in the US due to gun violence and accidents. As it stands right now, the only group that can solve this problem is gun owners. What I hear from you guys is nuh-uh, gun rights are sacrosanct, YOU HAVE TO put up with it.

The majority of people in the US don't own guns, about 66% of households don't have guns in them. When non-gun owner majority loses patience with irresponsible gun owners, I guarantee that you will not be happy with our solution to the problem.

Change your tune, dude. Owing that gun is not sacrosanct. Get your act together along with other gun owners and work with them to reduce mortality and injury due to gun violence and accidents with guns. It can be done without new laws but not by non-gun owners. I'd prefer you guys figure it out. If you don't, we will take action and our numbers are too great for you to resist once we decide to end this. I don't think gun owners have much more time before they lose their leverage on this issue.
