1g per watt question

I am having a disscusion with a firend, we both mentioned the goal of 1g p/watt BUT does that come from the veg room + the flower?

ex. say I have a 600 watter in the veg and a 1000 watter in the flower, what is the ideal yeild? 600 or 1000 or some sketchy math equation.

well, first off......1g/watt is just a goal, nothing more.....something mose people will never achieve.

its harvesting in grams all wattage you used for the grow. if you have a 1000W+600W running at the same time, 1600 grams every 2 months. using the same room, 600 watt, them move the 1000 watter in thats 1000 grams. like i said before, dam near impossible.

hehe thats $16,000 in dimers every 2 months...... 8 grand/month is some fine $$ for 2 lights........if it was possible...... wooohooo for stoned as hell!

I think (pretty sure, actually) it's just referring to your wattage in the flowering room.

i have never heard of 1g/watt, but i use low wattage bulbs, a 225 led light strip, and 150 watt cfl, my yields arent as big, but i dont think you would get like 1000g's off of a 1000 watt hps, maybe a hid, but so unlikely.

i could easily see a setup like this harvesting 1+g/watt. id drop the 150watt CFL for a 150 watt HPS just because of the added lumens/watt........get that extra boost in light for thicker buds. 375 watts, bring in 400+ grams, i could see that happening.

I always thought it was a ration says 2 plants veg'd for 8 weeks will yield the same as 20 plants veg'd 1 week. {edit } figuring its under the same watt (600mh / 1000hps) and the flower time is a non-negotiator (they are done when they are done)

it doesnt make sense to me with the grams per watt ratio, if you take 2 of the same plants with the same veg and flower wattage. But you veg one plant a month longer than the other then the plant vegged longer should be the superior yeilder right? So really it depends on how long you veg for with the wattage

Doesn't matter what the veg light is... the plant could have almost no light during veg and yield well during flowering. The whole "1g/watt" is decided by the flowering light. If you veg 10 plants under a 400watt metal halide and then flower under a 1000watt hps, you need 1000g to reach the 1g/watt range. Veg lights don't matter or contribute, because you can always veg a bunch of plants for a month under low lighting or a few big ones for months under a big light and be in the same position for growing buds. Flowering generally takes the same amount of time so that is why it's only determined by watts used during flowering. The amount of wattage applied when you actually being flowering is what counts.

ok i see what u mean. answer me this if you have a high yeilding strain CFLs for veg and a 400 hps for flowering should i just veg longer with 2 plants or do more plants with a less veg period.

i always say the more plants the better
even so, these guys are right the no. of plant is of no mater if your weighting the end results
but lets take the whole year
if a person had a 600w with 4 pants under it thats should = 1/2lb ezly every 4mth about 2lbs a year
but let say you filled the footprint with 16-20 plants if not more, with next to no veg time, fresh from the clone room right to flower,"12/12" from clone or seed. thats a harvest every 8-10 wks depending on strain and skill level, now you talking 3-4lb a year if not more form clone

this right here makes sence to me. I like the idea of veging for 6-8 weeks and having bushes with many nodes, it makes me smile..

let me see if I am getting this right; your saying the clones -> flower will yield the a little less grams per watt as the veged longer ones but since the clones -> flower utilize the space more efficently it will yield more in the long run.

You really gotta have your shit down if you want 1 gram per watt! You will most likely end up with .5 gram per watt. That goes by your flowering room wattage not flower and veg combined! :peace:

yeah 1g per watt is based on skill level and strain

but what i'm saying is clone or seed the more plants you pack in the better
and its just better to work with clones

a better skill to first master is 1+oz per plant

hps is an HID light source and is probably the best source of light for flowering

The measurement of g's per watt is merely an estimation to compare efficiency of a grow.

There are millions of methods out there for growing and everyone likes to think of them selfs as the greatest grower.- Generally speaking the measurement usually refers to the wattage used in flowering.

You misunderstand its purpose.

The g's per watt is used to determine the overall efficiency of the grow. A grow op is limited by multiple factors and each grower has to find a method that best suits his room/space and wattage.

Anyone can keep a plant vegetating for 4 months. But to flower said plant he requires atleast 1000w , yet the plant will most likely yield less than 500grams. Those 500 grams could be easily achieved under one ebb table and a 600w SOG grow. The SOG also has the advantage of taking significantly less time and consumes significantly less electricity in the end.

Most growers find SOG/SCROG to be the most efficient method of growing both in terms of space and light and advanced growers are capable of producing truckloads of buds from relatively little light ,- thus after 3 months of flowering they will have more grams per wattage.

i just harvested a plant i lst'd .i vegged it under 6 x13 watt and 2 x 23 watt daylight for 6 wks.flowererd under 6x13 watt2700k and 2 13watt 6500k and i harvested 94 gramsfrom a 14" plant . 124 watts total. not 2 bad, im going for a pound; ive got 3 more to chop.ive learned so fekkin much from yall its crazy,now i dont have to buy no more brown-bag specials for $30 a quarter.thanks to all yall ,i tink im gonna cry.
