1st Cab Build Lots of Pics and questions (LED, HPS, CFL?)

Hey whats up everyone i started to build a stealth grow cab out of an old bookshelf and wanted to ask a few questions and share my progress. The inside measures 23in W x10.25 D x 25.5in H. I originally started building this as a cab to hold a DIY cool tube with a 150w HPS but am having second thoughts. (Ill post my questions at the bottom of this post.)

Ill also be using (3x) 120mm PC fans on this Fan Controller and Molex Adapter.

Questions:
- Should i Go With an LED 90w or 180w panel? CFL's?, or 150w HPS (in cool tube)? (23in W x10.25 D x 25.5in H)
- Do i even have enough height for an LED light?
- Whats a good pot size for this grow? was thinking of using a Folgers coffee can (6in by 6.5in)
- Should i be running 1 or 2 plants in here?
- Best solution to patch up hole on top of cab?

any advice or questions would be very appreciated. ill be updating this frequently as i finish up this cab. thanks

I'm not an expert by any means, but I see nobody else has answered so I guess I could throw my 2 cents in, take it or leave it.

- I personally wouldn't go for an HPS in such a small space, even with a cool tube.
- You could try a 90 watt LED with two cfls to get a good combo going. I'm doing that on my grow, because from what I understand, LEDs tend to have issues in the flowering stage, so I added some 2700k CFLs for that stage to boost it. (Running 135w LED blackstar in a 3'x3'1.5' growbox w/ mylar coating)
- I'm totally digging the carbon filter, I made my own as well. What fan are you using for that?

All in all man, looks really sexy, do you know what strain you want to grow first?

hey thanks for responding i appreciate all the help! a 90w-135w ufo + a couple cfls would probably be a perfect set up. for fans im going to be using (3x) 120mm pc fans on a speed controller. For strains i was thinking of either starting with G13 Pineapple Express or some C99....was also looking into some Tangerine dream.

Are you doing anything for CO2? I'm in an enclosed attic and kinda worried about the CO2 content. Big CO2 tanks are too high profile in my nosey neighborhood. I'm thinking about just opening the attic up daily and blowing fresh air in with a fan.

no plans for CO2....its a pretty small grow ill be doing. Also the grow box is going to be in the same room i sleep in......so not really into getting killed by a CO2 tank while i sleep haha.

I would only do 1,with some bending and lst.You have plenty of light.Dont worry about co2 unless you have a sealed area.

easy iwantchipz, love the dedication and effort you have gone to, to set this up, cannot falt any of it, thought i would add my thoughts to your questions:
light:
from my experience, use the biggest light you can as long as you have very good air circulation and temps are within range. i would not use LED unless your in outer space or cannot afford to use anything else, they will not give as good a light spectrum as cfl's, and cfl's wont give as much as HPS. for your set up i would go 150/250w duel spec cfl, HPS will be to powerfull and produce to much unwanted heat,

pots:
i would use aprox double the size pot, as your going top use a scrog set up you need to vedge for longer and create a bush, you need more width than depth to create this especially due to your size of cab.

plants:
i would try 1 plant to start and see how you get on with training it, i agree with rooty420, and defo no need for co2, just open a window daily to help exchange the old air. BUT, the strain would make a huge difference, if you like a sativa high then i can recommend a south african kwazula from world of seeds, the smallest sativa i have ever grown, and one of the strongest, and any type of indica would work due to the small stature of these pants.

hole:
looking at your hole i would try and leave it open to help hot air rise out of the top, will help with air circulation......

what type of grow medium where you thinking of using and what nutrients. or where thinking some kindd of hydro like dwc?

all the above is not gospal so take what info you want and forget the wrest, this info is from my personnel experience only.........

Find a grow shop and ask for a 150 watt hps , its gonna cost you 80-125$ maxx ... and you wont have any heat problems with the good ventilation you seem to have .
