1st Day of 1st Grade!!!

Random question/thought I'd thought I'd throw out there...

Is there such a thing as too low RH%???

My tent has been dropping down into the 20s lately. I've been monitoring the soil and it's still moist so I don't think it's a huge deal. And I've read that low humidity is ideal towards the end of flowering but I'm weeks & weeks away from that.

If I make sure the soil isn't bone dry am I going to be ok?

Thanks in advance.

What Up??!? Happy Friday!!!

A little update...

I mainlined my 2 Kushberry clones yesterday. It's crazy to how quickly the leaves went from being sideways to perking right up. Ooo Mother Nature... I left most of the foliage be for the time being so I could make sure they'd take to the change. In the next day or 2 I'm going to trim things back and top them for 4.

My 2 Chernobyl clones are complete opposites for the time being. One is exploding and the other I'm trying to nurture into something that will stay alive...

Chernobyl_small_exploding.jpg
(I'm labeling everything big/small since 2 were in Solo cups(small) after I got them and 2 were in 1/2 gallon potters(big) - the clones that went straight into the Solo cups seem to be doing better and their root masses have grown quicker.)

If you look closely you'll see the rockwool sitting on top of the soil. The roots for this little lady seem to be in a holding pattern, just barely peeking out of the rockwool. This is my attempt to try and jumpstart some root growth. I also cut the bottom of a 2L bottle off and have been using it as a humidity dome. She doesn't seem to be struggling water/leaf/health-wise, just not growing. Hopefully she's just a little slower and will pick up soon. :)

My FF Soil Trio arrived yesterday. I mixed 1 gallon of water with a 3/4tsp of Big Bloom, 3/4tsp CalMag and 5 drops of Superthrive. I used about 1/3 of the gallon jug between everything. Definitely going to wait a few days before feeding them any more nutes. I'm guessing my soil is still hot enough that it's not needed. I saw what I believe to be the beginnings of a Calcium deficiency most likely brought on by Nitrogen and possibly one other thing(can't remember) that block out the Cal. Whoops.... I thought I was doing a good job w/less is more but I am going to shift down for a week or so just to be safe.

Later!

What up?! Update time...

Things are going fairly well considering this is my first grow. I've starting adding FF Big Bloom & Grow Big - ~1 tsp/gallon every time I fill my gallon jug up. Hoping to flip the lights in about a week or so, maybe longer as I'd like to grab a couple clones off of these plants to keep the gravy train rolling.

Here is a pic of the garden:

photo 4.jpg

The 2 plants closest are Chernobyl. The 2 in the back are Kushberry. I mainlined the KB and then realized getting a clone off of a mainlined plant might be a little difficult so I haven't really been sticking to 'Mainlining' proper other than the first step but whatever plants are healthy.

Front left is exploding - I've been supercropping a little. Front right JUST starting actually growing. I don't think the roots were ready to go into soil as there was ~2-3 popping when it went in.

I've been topping the shit out of everything too. Accidentally cut 1 fan leaf off that I didn't want to but otherwise it's been good.

Definitely getting excited but I know there's a looooooong ways to go. As long as it's legal where I live I'll prob be growing FOREVER :)

UPDATE TIME!!!

My ladies seem to be doing well to date. I'm kind of in a holding pattern vegging until 1+ of my clones root so I don't have to deal with getting more...

I've moved up to adding ~ 2 gallons of water per watering from 1 gallon. Watering every 2-3 days. Temps are ranging from low 70s to low 80s. RH% anywhere from ~30-50%.

There have been a couple supercropping mishaps but I've been able to tape things up within minutes so I'm not too worried.

Here's the garden - 2 Kushberry in the back, 2 Chernobyl in the front:

And the clones:

photo 3.jpg

Right now I think I'm going to give my clones another week or so - it's only been a week so not long at all - before I decide to flip or wait longer. If nothing else I'll have more bud sites grown on my ladies and I'm not exactly hurting for space/height so I can manage. Obv it takes a ton of patience but I think of it like waiting for Xmax/Bdays - you can be as excited/anxious as you want but it's not going to get here any sooner, you just have to wait.

If anybody has any tips/suggestions on cloning on the cheap/easy I'd appreciate it. I took my cuttings and dipped them in CloneX gel that's about it.

Later & happy growing!

What up people?!? Just flipped the lights(yesterday) and it's time for an update.

One shot from ground level and one aerial-ish shot.

Ladies are ~18" tall.

Now we sit and wait and make sure nothing gets eff'd up...

What up?!?

It's update time again. Everything seems to be going well. Flowers are starting to show!!!!!! AND the DIY cloner that I made a couple weeks ago has a 100% success rate!!!

General garden shot. Ladys are ~18-24"

Shot of my closet w/the cloner & clones. I'm not sure that I'll move forward with this exact cloner but will modify it a little with the same design concept. I took an empty Swiffer container and cut a few holes in the cover then cut that craft fake plant stuff as my medium. Glued the little airstone I had to the bottom, cut a hole for my air to come through the side and taped the cover w/duct tape to keep light out the best I could. I was going super budget on this and kind of in a hurry as I wanted to flip the lights and the previous clones I took and just put in rockwool didn't(and still don't) seem to be popping. After initially being frustrated I'm confident in my clone game now.

Full cups have popped clones from DIY cloner. Cups cut off are from initial attempt w/just rockwool and Clonex. NO CLONEX/ADDITIVES used in my DIY cloner and everything still popped.

What up?!?

So far so good. I've been watering ~2 gallons ~every other day alternating between straight H2O and nutes. Foxfarm trio w/CalMag and anywhere from 10-30 drops of Superthrive. Defoliating once or twice a week depending on how thick the canopy is.

That's all for now. ~35-40 days left before chopping!!!

Day #36 Update!!!

Things are still going well. I was gone for a couple days ago and a couple girls got droopy. Other than that I've just been waiting patiently. Defoliating ~once a week - mainly taking out leaves that are covering budsites or just overcrowding things in general.

Clones setup in the closet. Trying to plan a perpetual grow with a 2 week rotation of 3 girls flowering after I harvest these 4. Put 1 in 12/12 for 20 days. Then the second for 20, then the third..... Hopefully by that time I will both be able to have clones rooting and have vegged a decent amount of time to harvest a respectable amount continuously. Possibly introducing different strains here and there.

Really looking forward to the end of this month and the harvest. Half way there!!! Still need to get a magnifier but that will happen closer to the end of the month. And I need a scale...

DAY #49 UPDATE!!!

Started flushing 7 days ago. Leaves are just now starting to show signs of deficiencies. But that's the plan.

I added some of the soil mix left over to the tops. Both Chernobyls were leaning. And roots were peaking through the top in a couple.

Colas are starting to gain some weight. SUUUUPER STICKY. And stinky.

WHAT UP RIU???

Just finishing up harvesting my 1st grow!!! Overall I am pleased. Looking back to the first posts I made and even remembering what I did to get to the point of registering on this site - Ha! Crazy...

Just under 10oz total from 4 plants. 277 grams.

A touch under 6 Kushberry, a feather under 4 Chernobyl.

I also ended up with ~6 sticks of butter with everything from stems to trimmings. Personally I need to eat 2-3 cookies/rice krispie treats to feel anything but others have told me that their ass has been kicked by just 1 bite. :)

Harvesting, trimming & curing are IMHO the most complicated/complex/tough to explain unless you do it parts of the process.

The first jars of Chernobyl are about 2 weeks from harvest - smelling AMAZING. I haven't sampled the Kushberry yet, stay tuned I guess.

Third jar I filled. It's crazy how clearly you can see the leaves that are still there.
Garden_2_1142014.jpg

Took the boxes that my golf clubs were shipped in, cut 2 holes in one side and 2 on the other when the box is on its side. Pulled string through the box to the outside on each side. Tied pencils to the end of the string and I had a spot to dry! Being my first time I just tried to make sure temp/H% weren't crazy one way or the other. I think my Chernobyl dried better than my Kushberry. It might be because I only trimmed fan leaves on the Chernobyl, let them dry, then finished trimming them. Kushberry I feel like I either let dry too much or not enough. I waited until the edges were kind of crispy but I'm not sure I burped the KB enough or often enough. We'll see.
Garden_4_1142014.jpg

Shot of inside the tent. KB drying and another KB in the background still in the smartpot. I gave her just over a day of darkness before trimming.
Garden_1142014.jpg

Again, overall I'm happy I made it and didn't screw too much up. Now that I've done it, vegging is basically cruise control - just keep it on the road. I ended up not doing everything exactly the same(on purpose) during the harvest. I did everything a little different and will hopefully be able to tell what works well and what doesn't.

Already have 5 babys chilling in the tent. 4KB & 1 Chernobyl. Let's do this!
