Hi Everyone,

First off i am new here, this will be my first post! Such a great community and i look forward to learning and hopefully providing as much as i can!

This will be my first controlled grow, other plant's have been all natural outdoor with no human intervention beside planting the seed!

Beginning of the week i germinated 10 seed's total 6 in a glass of water the other four using the paper towel method just as a comparison both are pretty 99% effective provided you have good seeds. All the seeds im using are bag seed's from some of the best I've had, no point in buying right now as this will be a learning experience.

These are the four germinated using the paper towel method:

I started these as a spur of the moment thing, i still need to build my grow space, my place is quite small so space is limited so a micro grow cab or dare i say a PC case grow may be on the card's until then i am going to have to make use of natural light.

I bought some 50 / 50 coco perlite mix some time back for a grow that i never started along with some EHG Grow, Bloom & Micro nutrients. All of which i will be making use of for this grow.

I found some seedling trays in the garden that fit perfectly into my tray, cleaned them out with boiling water and filled with my medium. To moisten i used normal tap water left to stand for about a day, poured into the medium just until a small amount of run off was produced.

Using a pencil i made about half to an inch holes in the centre of the medium dropped the seeds in tap root facing down and carefully covered.

Sprouting has begun!!

With that all said now i am at the point where im not sure what to do next, I've been pouring in a capful of normal water just to keep things nice and moist when necessary. But when do i start using nutes? how do i mix and measure them up?

Looking forward to this journey! Happy growing!

Don't want to be a buzzkill. It is not only that you are seemingly putting the cart before the horse but it is possible you have no horse. Figure out your growspace.

Yes T5's or T8's are more ideal. I veg under a 6 bulb 4' T8 and it rocks!! Cheaper than T5, maybe not as good as T5 bulb but bulb life is great and overall the additional cost of T5's does not outweigh the slight performance differences. That is just my opinion and experience though. I will say those little T5 bulbs are pretty cool though. 8)

I veg under 6 4' T5s and my only regret is not getting 8. Works lovely for me.
Turns out I just bought this for my smaller tent;

Yeah they need to be under a light designed for there life and a cheap small tent is only gonna set you back £40 then the world is your oyster!
Good luck brother.

you don't need a grow tent, just stick those bitches in a closet with a CFL light and wrap the walls in aluminum foil, that's all I did. I started my first grow for $20.

Doing just that! Building a small micro grow, Ive got some mylar, couple PC fans, light sockets already. Also got 8 cfl's but don't think they will be good enough though.. 4 x 15w 2700k & 4x 15w6500k think thats equivalent to 240w ??

15w is 15w, you have 120w of light. It will work for now. But you are going to need more if your half serious.

CFL's are good for seedlings to veg and can get them pretty close without burning them. as for nutes.. I wouldnt worry about using them anytime soon.. and get a ph tester and some ph down/up and make a mixture of 5.5-6.2 ph'd water for these lil gal's.

I was talking about actual wattage or incandescent equivalent. Perhaps 2 80w bulb's? Im not sure how much i need.. What's the rule of thumb per plant from veg to harvest?

It doesn't work like that. 15w is 15w. You can't compare them unfortunately.

You're way ahead of me LOL I've got one household fan and 250W CFL with aluminum foil. When you get a chance, post some pics, let's see how they're doing!

My two favorite books. After reading Teaming with Microbes, mixing new soil and not using any form of bottled nutes I have better looking plants. Not great but definitely better Lol.. I just got home with Teaming with Nutrients and am half way to the end. I cant wait to see how having this info changes things for me. :weed:
