1st grow: Bagseed + WW, 2 plants LST CFL low watt

i really dont know anything about lumens and all that..
watts tell you how much power a certain bulb uses/absorbs from the plug, and lumens tell you how much light that bulb produce (off those watts it uses)

when you divide the lumens by the watts, you get an idea of how efficient a bulb is.

In my case:
1500 lumens / 25 Watts = 60 lumens per watt

*The bigger the number, the better*

you'll find many many threads covering this and every possible scenario on RIU about lighting :) :peace:

@growone: I agree with you on the efficiency of bulbs - 23W-26W are hard to beat - but on eb@y there's a ("cfl grow light", from UK) 45W with 3000 lumens, and a 65W with 4300 lumens that I'm very curious about... aside from the initial price you pay :( they look efficient Watt/lumen-wise to me :) and I wonder if they may have better foliage penetration compared to 23-26Ws...??
those guys come in around 66 lumens/watt that is good
but the cheap GE soft whites you can get in many stores are 1750 lumens for a 26w bulb, at 67 lumens per watt
best bang for the cfl dollar i've been able to find
the other GE bulb i mentioned has 75 lumens per watt!
that's the highest i've seen in any cfl
they're also over $50 for a 29w bulb, which is where my interest stopped for the time being

yea thats just getting ridiculous,$50 for a cfl? i mean unless you ONLY grow by CFL and thats your ONLY preference i wouldnt see a point. Theres plenty other cfls that will do the job as efficiently as that. lower the price and then we can talk :P

so anyway, this is getting a bit off topic, HIJACKER!!! :P j/k, but for reals, how those ladies lookin?

but where I live I've been lucky to find 25w/1500lumens for 5$ each approx. Trust me... I know it's a sh*t...

ahah lol!!!

indeed but that's ok :)
took some pix, they're coming along nicely ;)

1-3: bagseed, fed yesterday 1/3 teaspoon of molasses /1 liter
4: WWs, the topped one is OK but the FIMmed in background... mmm... just doesn't look like I did it right... ^^

cfl and lst just seem to get along, i really like it for the small space used and thus quite stealthy
but getting all those buds close to the cfl, that is the sweet spot
and 60 lumens per watt is just fine, there are plenty of cfl's with lower rates than that
a lot depends on how much we trust these manufacturer's numbers

ok this cheers me up :)

..and I agree with you, combos of "lst-cfl-stealthiness" elements really are the key to some of the sexiest grows you can have today. dollar-wise also, and above all! :)

but eheh it's logic I agree, after all Your concepts were among those who made me choose this setup! :bigjoint:

...and sure HPS are damn efficient and LED something we're all waiting for, but still...... cfl seemed to me the way to go in 2010 - given my budget and space available.

:leaf: have a nice weekend y'all ;)

- bagseed is now 1 month veg + 1 month flowering, fed with very light molasses this week
- white widow is 25 days old (12/12 from seed) fed with a little superthrive and only one remains (one left for another home :) )

I broke the 18 watter warm bulb (the smallest :) ) maneuvering... but replaced it right away with a 30 watt warm 1900 lumens :)

so now i'm running 155W total.

not so much to show so I'm not taking pix - posting this just for record - I hope some little growing/fattening will happen
soon! :)

peace

Your plants are coming along nicely. The bagseed looks very promising, nice LST work. I like how it appears you're getting a handful of colas.
BTW, I FIM'd my two newest plants that are about to get flowered and I'm not sur I did it right either. I followed the direction I was given but only time will tell. How long ago did you FIM that WW?

thank you dez! :)
one week ago more or less, but I actually "missed" on FIMming lol, 'cuz the plant looked like topped but with broken/partial leaves in three days :( and gave away the plant (didn't have space for two WWs anyway)

I kept the (well) topped one :) and LSTed her yesterday :weed:

will post pix soon - and good quality ones since my phone broke......

looking fine trifase, i think we're real close in time and size
i've found LST a little stressful, i did manage to bend a bud branch the other day

First and most importantly...
Nice F--king grow man. Your shit is looking nice. Great job so far, I will be subscribing and reppin you up.

I'm cfl stealth cabbin it myself. I think I am going to scrog. I am getting my grow cab fine tuned using some bag seed test subjects.

Im rockin 23,400 total lumens in 4 square foot cabinet with mylar covering the adjustable light board and mylar on the bottom cuz it was getting cold on bottom.

So...5,850 lumens per square foot.

I just got some fox farm soil and I am waiting on my northern lights seeds to arrive.

Any advice on my setup is appreciated. I need to knock out the kinks before I start the NL's

Yeah man. Those look great. Wish mine still looked that good, but they don't anymore. My WW ptrob has a little less bud than that but my Shiva Skunk prob has a little more. They're in their 5th week of flower now so pretty similar.

You should check out the new thread bro. it's the bottom one in my sig. You'll like the new plants and the new DWC setup.

Congrats again...

growone, smokeymcpotjk, dezracer, hardcorps thank you all for stopping by :) I'll keep on checking your helpful ops ;)

...I guess I'm getting it right about LST and lighting for 155W (4900 lumens 2700k, 1500 lumens 6500k = 6400 lumens/105W Per Plant, 1.5-2 inches away)
but I have NO idea about what I'm doing elsewhere lol:
convenience store regular soil, 1/2 strenght general nutes (Atami B'Cuzz soil mix) no CO2, no PH monitoring, no temp monitoring, no pruning nor killer genetics as far as I know (bagseed)

so now we'll see how much weight it'll pack up :weed: - as it could be good looking but not effective

another couple of yesterday's pics - will update soon & start some light blackshard molasses - if it's the right time (1 month into flowering) ?

i've got the same concern, will the bud pack it on?
i know it's supposed to, but you get a bit nervous watching and waiting
