1st Grow Cheese

Set up:
2x4x6.5 Tent
400w HPS/MH
Inline fan
Carbon Filter
1- 18 gallon DWC rubbermaid w/ 2- 8" net pots
2- Five gallon drip buckets w/ 5 gal reservoir

T:0 I am using Super Plugs (made of tree bark with correct PH and beneficial microbes to colonize roots and maximize nutrient uptake) instead of rockwool to start 5 seeds. After much thinking I decided to let mother nature do its course and just dropped each seed into the hole and took a piece of the plug and covered the hole. Since the plugs were already wet I only put water in the lower tray. I started to worry if the tap root would finds its way down and grow right.

For the germination and seedling stage I will use CFL 23w (100w) bulbs then continue with these lights in addition to HPS and MH.

I will be trying to get an album up.

T:1 I left the lights on for 24 hrs then I checked to make sure everything was still damp and looked alright. Everything did and I was surprised to see a couple of seeds already breaking the surface of the plugs. One looked like the root was growing up so I took tweezers and gently lifted it out to readjust it, but to my surprise the root was already an inch into the plug growing the right way... everything so far is going good.

Up until yesterday I have been using 24 hr CFL lights. I gave them their first taste of darkness (17/7) and they seemed to love it. All but 1 has popped out of the ground and are losing their seeds. I thought I messed up somehow because just looking at them standing up they look like they have burnt/dry edges but after bending down I realized that I was their seed covering falling off.

T:4 Today everything still looks good. The super plugs are still wet from the initial watering 4 days ago. Four plants are 1" stretching towards the light. (compared to T:3 when two plants had their leaves still looking at the ground.) Two plants have stretched their roots 3" past the bottom of the plug into the bottom reservoir... fast little growers.

I am wondering when I should put my seedling into my hydro unit? Any help? The roots are really long on the bottom and some are coming out of the sides of the plug.

Is it time?

So I got a notice that my lease runs out at the end of May. That's 88 days away will I have enough time to grow these guys up? I guess now looking at how many days it is it looks like I can make it.

Back to the plants.

I took the plants with the largest root systems out of the propagation area and put them into my DWC. And set the timer to run 15 mins every 2hrs. And once halfway (3hrs) through the night. I left the other two plants to mature for awhile in the prop.

I then thought that I might start to use the 400w MH light so I set that on and turned off the CFL's. My temperature went crazy from 76 F up to in the 90's. That wasn't good so fuck that light for now. I set up the 4 CFL's and now the temperature is running 74 F. Plus the lights can be closer. I would still like to add more lights, because you know what they say...

So every thing seems fine the plants are in a little of a shock i suppose so we will see...

Building DWC:
18 Gallon Rubbermaid
2- 8" Net Pots
Airstone
Air and Water Pump

Since the bucket is so big I decided to use a water pump to shoot the water between the pots making it splash into and down the pots. While the airstone just makes the water happy.

Went out of town and decided not to leave the plants in the propagation. So i put one into the DWC with another one, don't plan to grow them that big, and planted the other one in soil, so I can put it outside to grow when it is warmer.

I returned three days later and everything was fine except the light had fallen near the leaves of one plant. That plant looks nutrient burned but since two other plants were using the same water and look fine I guess it is the light that was too close.

One plants looks sad. With its leaves hanging down. Maybe not enough water... poor guy.

Temp. 75F Day/Night ? Humidity 40%

Last night I was going over it in my head of what I should do since I move in about 80 days the plants look good and I think that I could be picking the buds when I move out and let them dry somewhere else.

But I will probably end up veging these plants until about two weeks before I leave and then I will take clones from all of them so they are easier to transport and I will have more time at my other place...

So... not that this had a lot of views but sorry guys you will see no buds coming from me anytime soon.

Everything looks good on the plants I have raise their nutrients to about 295 ppm.

Woke up this morning and found a light had fallen on top of a plant. Some leaves were left wilted and chard. And if that wasn't enough, the leaves were turning yellow from the inside to out bottom to tip so I asked around and got the answer that they need more nutrients, so I added a little more in hopes it would go along way...
It went a long way alright. The leaves started to curl under and get spots on them and feel hard.

So now I am flushing them with 6 ph water, starve them for a little while then give them a clean new batch of nutrients.

But at least I have some good bud to smoke away my trouble...

Well it has been a while since I have posted. I am still veging out my cheese and it has gotten bushy and small. It is about 10" and has about 9 pairs of nodes. It is looking real good. All my attention is on that plant mostly 5 out of 7 100w CFL's. I threw away one plant and am testing out topping and bending on the other plant in soil.

The one in soil carried some gnats with it so that was a problem for about 6 days but I did nothing and they went away. Ph I try and keep around 6.2 because it goes down so quick in like a day to in the low 5 and 4's.

I am sorry that I didn't take any pictures of my cloneing machine that I made.

It is an aero cloner with a 200 something water pump, 1/2 inch pvc pipe cut to fit a 18 gal rubbermaid. I drilled 2 inch holes in the tope and put 12 plugs into it. I put 12 360 sprayers but I need more maybe 20 in total.

I took 8 clones, fucked up two. Underwater I cut at 45 degrees and rubbed off the outer layer of stem to promote root growth. Dipped it in rooting gel and stuck them in. Thats whee I broke two. Hey this is my first time and you need to be really careful.

I them placed a dome over the clones and two CFLs.

Alright so I didn't think that anyone would ever read this so I stopped.

But I took the clones from the big one and Veged them for 2 weeks then put them into flowering. That is were they are now for 2 weeks.
'
I built an aeroponic system out of a 5x5" vinyl post. If anyone had any questions message me.

Alright so this is the start of week 4 of flowering. I am using Advance Nutrients Grow-Bloom-Micro with Bud Candy as well to give the plants more energy. I put 13 gallons (to the lip on an 18 gal rubbermaid) of water that I let air pump into over night and top off the res when i need to.
