Oook! So it has been way too long since I've taken pics of the plants..but at least you get to see a big jump in the bud development from last time. They're looking pretty good. As you can see some of the leaves i trimmed and cut pieces off of because they really did look like they'd been munched on by some sort of bug. The plants look pretty healthy again now though, although I'd like it if they were bigger..but I can't expect much more with CFL's. Hopefully once I get my ballast in a few days and get the HPS bulb plugged in their growth will take off and I'll be able to get at least an ounce average off each one..that'd be nice. Anyways, whatdyou think?

Peace:peace::leaf:

Wow, very cool journal. I read from day 1 all the way to today. I just ordered some cfl's. Can't wait till they come. I hollowed out an old refrigerator in my garage to use, kind of like a growbox. I will be very happy if my plants look anything like yours do. I'm pretty new to growing. I learned quite a bit from your journal, you should be proud. Keep it up and good luck.

Wow haha. First new pics I've posted in like 2 weeks and noone has anything to say..
Weird. I wrote you a reply and for whatever reason, it did not post.

Just curious how tall your girlies are at this point in their lives?

Also, did you decide to go with some molasses? I think about a tablespoon a week should be fine. Whatever you do go organic. If you do it on Mondays, you can just call it molasses Mondays. Easy enough to remember that schedule.

Are you growing bagseed or some dank from a seed bank?

The images are real blurry, so it's hard to really tell what's going on with the plant. By what I can see, they're looking super green and healthy though!

Till next time... :joint:

rollwithyou - hey. theyre like 15 inches tall average right now..not as tall as i wouldve hoped at this point. i got my ballast today though so with the high pressure sodium shining on em they should get bigger pretty fast. ill probably go with molasses in a week or so. im just still iffy as to which type to use. the types at the grocery store are "fancy molasses"..dunno how good thatd be or if it would matter at all. im growing neither bagseed or seedbank. i got my seeds from a pot dealer friend who got them from a "bomb batch" haha..theyre great seeds. got em for like a buck a seed too..way better than those seedbanks. the images are blurry? they dont look blurry to me..

Hey! So are you setting up your HPS tonite? Lucky. Bet those buds will eat that light up.

Fancy molasses? Never heard of it. I know Whole Foods carries a lot of organic/premium brands of molasses. You might try checking it out if you have one in your area.

Do you have an estimated date to flower? Just took a rip off the glass piece to show my love.

Happy growing! :)

yeahh just got the HPS set up a couple hours ago. it is super hot! its going to be hard to keep the heat down below 95 degrees now..not good. i need a bigger fan. and ya im hoping the plants eat it up like no tomorrow so i can get a decent harvest out of this grow that has seemed to go on forever! ill do my best to find some organic molasses...plan to harvest at the very end of May..probably/hopefully around June 1st

I don't think you ever said how many watts your HPS is? And what kind of a deal did you get on it though eBay?

I think the 400w HPS go for around $195 at most hydroponic shops.

Is your 12 hours lights off during the day? That will help with cooling during the summer. You might try getting one of those big metal industrial fans and leaving the grow room's door open when you're at home to watch over it. That way, when you fire up your AC, your plants will be enjoying it with you.

If you have any troubles finding the molasses, then be sure to check Amazon before you give up. I'll bet they have exactly what you want (the organic stuff) for a very competitve price.

Have you been doing seaweed extract? That stuff is pretty insane too. It's all natural and by what I have read, it acts as a steroid to the plant. It also helps reduce any stress the plant might be going through.

Goooooood stuff. Smoke it up.

its 400 watts..and its a metal halide and HPS ballast..you can use both kinds of bulbs in this ballast. got it on ebay for like 200 plus shipping..its perfect though. i was willing to pay that much for it since it uses both metal halide and hps and all i have to do is hang the light on a nail in the wall. eaaasy..and yeah i have the lights on from 9pm to 9am..during the night hours. i do that so its more discrete and cooler also. i need to get a bigger badder fan for sure though cuz its getting too hot in there these days..even with the door open and the fan blowing. amazon eh..yeah ill try my options for the molasses. seaweed extract? never heard of it..where do you find it and what exactly does it do?

thx for the input! rock on

Hey..

So, seaweed extract is going to help with any sort of stress your plants are going through. I tend to be a little e-forum worm, and read all too much, for like hours! Hah. Seriously though... anyway, I am no expert, but by all the information that I have gathered, that stuff is like a stealth steroid. A lot of people use it all the way through their grow and say that it works wonders. Again, it's organic and all natural so it's nearly impossible to overdose. I still wouldn't recommend using over a cap full per gallon. It truly works wonders though.

You can mix it with your molasses AND your nutes, without causing any sort of nute burn. You can get that stuff at a local nursery or online for about $10 and it should more than complete your current grow. I talked to a guy that runs the nursery up the road and he said it is awesome for indoor plants, because it works like fish emulsion, but without the awful stink. He practically praised the stuff, as does everyone who uses it on their grow (by what I have read on multiple forums anyhow).

How is your chicas coming along? You said they were some dank seed that got passed down? Chronic I take it? Any guess on your yield? And are you still planning on harvesting as specified previously, or like many others, are you going to let them fill out a little more? I am following this to the end!

Keep on growing, gardener. (Green) Thumbs up to your success so far! :joint:

hey guys. sorry i disappeared of the face of the Earth. ive already harvested, and i have to say it was pretty much a bust. it was brutal..i went to the casino one night without opening the closet door. its a small closet rite so the timer turned the hps and other cfls on and i came home was like fuuck and opened it to see the plants completely fried and it was like 120 degrees in there. before that they were looking decent enough..probly woulda put out an ounce or so for me. but that night just killed them. they stopped growing completely after that and after about a week i harvested about 10 grams dry of premature, tiny bud. the amazing thing is it actually got me very, very high. in a good way. buut it was 10 grams..after all that. very disapointing but at least i learned a ton from all this and from you people so thanks..next time ill ace it. gunna grow treeeeess lol

peace

What day were you forced to harvest? And how many days were you going to wait to harvest if the this tragedy didn't happen? Was your 10g 100% of your harvest, or was there any bud that got ruined and trashed because it was severely burnt by the lights?

Sorry for the 20 questions, but I'm super dooper curious.

That news blows though man. Better luck to you next time. I was following, and hoping for the best! Now that you got your HPS and equipment, you will be good to go for next time.

That looks exactly like my first cfl grow in closet, lol. What are your temps, tin foil increases the heat too much. Your plants look heat stressed. Take off the tin foil on the walls, and blow a fan inside if you can for air movement if you haven't already. White walls do a better job at light distribution than tin foil. I made that mistake my first grow. So, again what are your temps? They shouldn't get above 82 degrees F, your humidity should be around 50% for optimal bud growth and less chance of mold. I controlled those two things and got 3 to 4 ounces off one plant of bagseed in my closet. Fan, lower heat, your girls should respond nicely. And only nute when bottom leaves turn yellow.
