1st grow ever, lookin for some answers please

Hi,

Like i said, first grow ever, and id have to say im pretty happy with the results thus far, my questions are the following, please, unless you really KNOW what you're saying, don't .. too much disinformation on these sites if you ask me...

when should i begin my 2week before harvest flush? that may seem like a question i answered myself there, but, what signs do i look for to know im about 2 weeks away and begin just water?? as an aside, it seems to be common place that people insist doing this helps the taste and smell for curing especially, i get the idea of the chlorophyl and other chemicals being used up, but would it be better to sacrifice a bit of taste n smell for a bigger yield?

i do not have a microscope so i cannot accurately check trichs, is there a way to determine by the pistils?

also, any comments are welcomed on what you think of my first project here, thanks!

The only accurate way is with a scope, or a 30X mag glass.
A rough rule of thumb, 2 week flush at 8 weeks but some strains and phenos are at 12 weeks.

Those don't look ready, all the hairs are still white and the trics look clear, try to get a closer pic of the trics. When some look yellow and most are cloudy it is time. I run straight water for the last 4 days after leeching. Then let them sit in the dark for 24 hours the last night before harvest. The chlorophyll story is a myth but the nutes being used up is true, you want any excessive nutes that are stored in the plant used up some but not all. Too long without nutes is bad. Let them dry for 7 days as they hang upside down.

no no, i know they arent done at all, the pistils are just just starting to change, i figure a good 3 weeks is supposed to be 6-8 for this strain, and im 4.5 weeks in.. anyway, ill just give them normal feeding schedule up until 7 weeks in, then ill switch it up.. thanks though

yeaaaa. i think the best thing to do since you dont ave a scope would be to just go by the pistons... if you figure you usually harvest when theyre 3/4 of the way red/brown/orange... when theyre about 1/2 way changed i would start to flush... thats what i plan on doing.. i gotta say tho.... those plants look AMAZING!!! you should be proud to show those things off.

Iv never seen any pistons on bud in an engine.

your in pearl lite so you flush is a piece of cake. You look about half way there so in 3 more weeks stop all nutrients an start to flush with plain water. you should water with say 3 gallons and let it drain freely then wait about 30 min and but another 3 gallons through. The time between the total 6 gallons will give some time for any salts to dissolve and the last 3 gallons will flush them out better. You should also do this just before lights on as the plants store nutrients in the root zone during the dark cycle. By flushing just before lights on the plants will have less and less nutrients to draw from. This is also why its a good idea to harvest just before lights on. That way any left overs are down in the root zone and in your buds so they smoke and burn better. Hope this helps.

I drink the regular pearl. Pearl lite just doesn't fill me up.

Some of the best home growed specimines I have seen congrats. Got some fine nuggies on there. I'm about 4 weeks in on some AK 48 and it turning into nearly all buds and the fan leaves are yellowing up and falling off especially around the bottom. Guess some of that is normal but its making me nervous

And here i thought this thread would be dead,thanks for the compliments, if i can reproduce or do better next time id be happy, as for the light im using, is 1000w hps air cooled, about.. 14 in away now give or take..

ill post another set of pics in about 2-3 weeks to show the difference, i think theyre gonna explode still, anyway thanks again! and ill have some more(hopefully) nice bud porn relatively soon

eventually, once i get it dialed in without co2, which isnt far off, im gonna throw in a co2 burner.. ill have 2x 1000w going then,but its just 1kw right now.. and thats my story! have a good one

oh heres some trich pics, i borroowed a friends camera, better quality than mine.. but not microscope quality unfortunately.. oh well! enjoy

seems like best way to tell if their ready is to check trich's. if you have to go by pistols, after much reading, it seems like general consensus is to wait till pistols look like they are receeding into the bud. for example you could have a plant with 75% red hairs and still be 50% clear trichs, 50% cloudy with no amber yet showing. or mostly clear or whatever.

today i snapped probably the best pic yet of trichs, its not perfect, but, i could swear i see some amber and about 5050clear and cloudy, anyone wanna take a look let me know if im right? its hard to see, otherwise i wouldnt be looking for another opinion.. save file and blow it up on your pc if necessary.. i think the site downsizes it and loses quality because of that


it would appear it does downgrade the quality quite a bit lol.. oh well, i guess i'll just use my judgement.. theres a couple of reasons i wanna pick it early .. its taken too long, cause i screwed up i nthe veg phase and set em way back.. like 2-3 weeks back.. oh well.aside from that i dont have the right amount of plants anyway (i had more males than i woulda hoped for and only got to keep 2\6 in the end).. so my footprint is like 30% used or less, plus i have a bunch of couchlock stash already so i want somethin a little 'cleaner' for a change..im gonna start flushin on saturday and pick it on the saturday afte no matter what, so i can get the next one going and do a better job on it.. thanks again to the people who stopped by for a kind word

ok, so here we are, about 6 days from the day i cut it all down, at 7 weeks and 3 days.. checked the trics yesterday.. with the camera and my pc photo program, its surprising how well it works, to the people lookin to know how to get a real good look at trics without microscope, definitely get your hands on a decent digital camera 10mpx or better even, nice macro, and it will be easy to see the trichs on your pc.. id post mine, but i dont have a link for high quality pics so theres no point, you won't see it well, but i can! and theyre about (clear/cloudy/amber) 10/80/10..

im gonna give em just water until this coming saturday morning and then let em dry out and cut on monday morning? that sound about right?

Also, should i try that whole 3 days of darkness crap, cause i sounds like a load to me, but who knows, anyone can REALLy vouch for it?? sounds so ridiculous i probably wont do it either way.. other than that, cant wait! heres some pics enjoy!

uh oh, i think i may have a budrot problem..... the leaves on the bud itself not fan leaves, (well a bit, but more the ones on the bud... and it honestly, kinda smells of stinky feet? like i no joke smelled my foot to make sure somehow my shoes didnt make my socks stink or something.. and, the lower parts of the plant arent like that, but i am flushing right now, is it normal?? what are tell tale signs of bud rot? how can i tell? or should i just chop em off now just incase and try to save the lower buds

there's one to show u the color of the other leaves... those buds are about... 6in diameter that have the weird smell and strange color, which couldnt be more than 2 days now, cause ive been paying attention... o htemps got a little low lately.. about 55 at night

it depends what kind of high you want. more white hairs its a head high, golden hairs its more of a body high

I dont see any bud rot.

they don't look done yet, but they sure are pretty!!
