hey people. iv been following this website quite a bit (look through pictures of plants for hours lol) and have been wanting to grow for a good 2-3 years now, just been anxious starting it as im guessing many people would on their first grow. finally decided to just give it a go and see the outcome.
SETUP:
setup is fairly simple and hasn't cost me a lot. i have an old pc case which i stripped out (gave me a few bloody cuts doing it lol >.<), a 125w envirolight 2700k with plug fitting (£35), mylar (£2), gaffer tape (best buy ever!!!! for £5), pc fan 80mm (£3),a 12v plug for powering my fan which i found in one of my draws (think it was from my keyboard/piano thingy) and electrical insulation tape for wiring the fan to the plug (£2).
note -- still need to buy a thermometer/humidity tester and a ph kit
MEDIUM:
i am growing in B&Q compost with a mix of perlite with about a 60:40 mix. i know nothing else about the compost apart from iv heard good things and its grown me some pretty nice chillies this year.
PLANTS:
the plants iv decided to grow are auto big bang (£4.70 per seed - greenhouse seeds) and auto jack (£3.98 per seed - not sure where from) which i both bought from pickandmixseeds. Don't know why i picked these seeds, i have just seen the names go round a bit and seemed to stick with me. heard big bang is good for medicinal purposes so it will help my chronic back pain hopefully (will have to wait and see, fingers crossed though)
GERMINATION:
i simply dampened some tissue, wrapped the seeds in them, placed them in a cup with a dvd case over the top and put them in my cupboard. both germinated in 2 days (100% succes so far for my first 2 seeds)
think that's all the basics. since these are autoflowering i am using a 20/4 light cycle. i read on the pickandmixseeds website that the auto jack prefers a 12/12 light cycle or it will have fluffier buds at the end - can anyone confirm this who has grown the strain before? im just going to keep on 20/4 for now.
im simply feeding them tap water for now until i get a ph kit and in about 2 weeks i will start giving them nutrients. can anyone recommend a good solution for beginners (from the UK)
now the pics:
day 2 (big bang left, jack right)
a bit of stretching going on since i had to start on a window ledge.
day5:
not much improvement apart from a bit more stretching
big bang day 5
jack day 5
day 7:
both in grow case (BB left, jack right)
jack day 7
both in case (BB left, jack right)
BB
both in case again
day 10:
big bang left, jack right. will stay like that so i don't have to keep commenting on every picture (lazy stoner lol)
day12:
big bang
big bang
big bang
jack
jack
both
both
jack
on day 12 the end of the big bang leafs are curled up, dry and brown. i think this is because it is taller so it could be just burning from the light? not too sure though.
anyone know why the big bangs leafs are reaching/stretching upwards too? never seen this before looking through the countless threads i have here.
and to fix the stretching i plan to bury the stem when re potting upto the lowest set of leafs.
any questions feel free to ask and ALL help is much appreciated
peace
