Well hi there. Pleasure to meet ya. Looks like you wish a few people would stop in and check out your grow right ? Anyway, man dude you sure do put some time into workin the hell outta them CFL's eh ? Believe me man I know too well what its like to work on the lowest of budgets. Unfortunately I have to be very thrifty in trying to pull off every grow I do.
Your plants look very good for the light they're under. They look nice and healthy. At the same time, they also look like what CFL's are capable of doing, and the fact is, its not going to yield a whole heck of a lot. BUT, it can produce some nice bud, just not a lot of it.
Your buddy here suggested Panda film and I would 2nd that. I have to be real careful on where I throw money, and Panda film can be expensive, but its something thats worth every penny you pay for it.
I'm a little leary of them CFL's with them reflectors tied to them like that. I mean, I'm sure they'll be fine and all, but have you seen the pictures of CFL's hanging upside down that caught themselves on fire? I use em too in my nursery to veg babies with and they do make me a bit paranoid.
Anyway, if you continue to grow weed, try to scrape up the money to get yourself even a 400 MH HPS conversion light. The difference you'll see is night and day.
I did my very first grow with CFL's and I knew then that wasnt gonna cut it. These days I run 2- 400 watt lights and its the best thing I ever did.
So, just thought I'd stop in and give ya something to read man. Happy growing

Thanks man 4 your great words.I know wot u meant about the lights Im saving towards new ones and other stuff. Also I get what u mean abt the home-made reflectors I had on there but don't worry,I took them off last week and also wrapped all the wires in cable tidies etc. last night.I bought some emergency Mylar blankets and put them on my cupboard walls & it'll do just now.I actually went out & bought 20sqMs of Panda film fm the HydroPnc shop which was really cheap but want to use it for my home made tent im making.I'm a carpenter by trade so should do a good job on it.Don't want to build it though until i buy a Carbon Filter because the whole idea of the tent is to get rid of any smell......Anyway cheers 4 the encouragement. It's really appreciated and yes it is a little quiet in this forum.I wonder if there's any others that are better.Hmm..See ya.

I'm also a member at Grasscity, you might want to visit there and see if its to your liking, but this site does have a lot of traffice.
Ya man I use some of those mylar emergency blankets too. I actually made a curtain out of two of those. I put holes in the top and covered them with duct tape so they dont rip and hung em across a piece of wire and they work great. They say you can get hot spots from that kinda stuff but I rotate my plants a little every day so its not a problem.
I need a carbon filter myself in the worst way but there ya go, I dont have an extra $200 to put into one that will actually work.

There's Carbon Filters on Ebay for 35-40Pounds (uk). Not sure about them though.I might just get one to see if actually works.

Hey dude just thought id chime in. I'm currently doing a cfl NL auto grow. One suggestion that could help you out greatly in my opinion is possibly throwing in a cheap T5HO light. I threw one into my cfl grow and the results were almost instant... got mine off ebay for $65.. From HTC supply. Best of luck to you!

Yeah I'm going to buy some better lighting for a new grow im starting in the next few weeks.I haven't the cash to buy it for this grow so ill prob have to settle for a much reduced CFL harvest. This is my very 1st grow and Im learning a LOT.

Just a word of caution. This picture is my RQ Northern Light as of 5 minutes ago. She is 28 inches tall and 25 inches from left to right. She is tied down.

I don't know the details of your grow but I strongly suggest LSTing her a tad to control her. Mine is tied down and she is still a massive bush. I wonder how big she will really get given that she is in her 7th week and has just started to get active as far as flowering.
Just keep an eye on your space constraints.
For a size reference, my tent is 4 ft long x 2 ft wide x 5 ft high

super healty looking plant dude,I have been takeing the main cola of at week 4/5 veg
for the reason of that the sides become your main tops,if anything has has inceased my yeild
by 2 oz per plant,

The plants i do i top all the way through to the end of week 4/5 veg, since i have been doing this
the plants tend to become rounder but i top every top even the lower stuff then top again so i end up
with 6 tops on every branch rather than just the one.

The plants do look cool with that cola bottle looking tops, the last northern lights i did was about 10 year ago
it was in a tent with a-m-s from greenhouse seeds,i ended up pulling the 3 other plants out the tent back then through size
the top cola weighed in at 54 gram dry,

Hey! Great journal. I am also growing northern lights #5. You really got good growth in a short amount of time. I was worried that the leaves to my plants were looking thinner and less full but I see your plants look the same, so I am reassured.

How much light are you giving those badboys?

They're on CFL's. Ive got one big 200watt CFL shining on them from above and 5 26watt CFLs hanging round the sides. Next time I do a grow im gonna make sure I get some decent lighting and use CFLs for supplementals. They're good for doing a job but if u want really big plants and dense buds they are not really the way.
Also ive burnt quite a few leaves with the CFLs.Contrary to what some people say, they will burn leaves to a crisp if they are nearer that about an inch.

Also I snapped a branch on one of them last week without realizing. The plant went all weird.Looking under-watered,droopy and just unhealthy.I had no clue what was going on until I saw that a branch 2/3 of the way up the plant had snapped and was hanging off and my little forensic mind went into detective mode deducing that as the branch had healed a good bit at the snap site, then it must've happened a few days before and that it WAS this that caused the plant to be acting sickly...Im getting good at this stuff :D :D :D

Oh I meant time cycle wise.
Ha right, sorry dude. They WERE on 24/24 but i switched them down to 20/24 this week. Not for anything to do with the grow but to save a little electricity. In the early part of Veg I think the 24 hours light did stress them out slightly and I lowered it a bit for a while but on the whole the 24 hours light has been great for them.
