1st grow results, harvest pics...help me get better

What's up ppl,

Just harvested my first two plants. Setup was as follows:

4x2x5 tent
400 watt mh (veg) hps (flower)
FF ocean forest, added some perlite
FF trio nutes
Vegged for a month
Flowered for 10 weeks (count since flip)

Had a calcium deficiency in week 4 of flower.

Both plants ended up being very short, and the buds are dense. Trichs never turned amber, but I spotted a few, maybe 5%.

What can I do next time to have taller plants and fatter buds?

Veg longer or use 600w or 1000w HP's or both veg longer and use a powerful light either 600w or 1000w I'll veg under 400w mh and flower under either 600w or 1000w hps

Greetings, if you increase light and Pk bump schedule, you may get an increase.

Kelp can stretch you out some.

Could be short genetics. I like them like that personally.

All else fails and you have no issues using PGR's then there's an option. Read on them carefully before considering that one. Alot are banned in some places, most frown on them. But alot are being used in big brands without people knowing.

My total weight weight is about 140 Grams per plant....what will that equate to? That seems really low, but these were short plants.

i agree on the light... you can cheat by installing some cfl around the hps... you will need both temp bulbs. temp will rise but it won't be to bad..

That's quite a respectable harvest quantity - .7g per watt. Anything above .5 is considered good, 1g/w is the 'standard' to aim for. Veg a bit longer and use a scrog to help spread them out a bit more.

I thought the 1g/watt was dry weight....if so, I'm thinking each plant will yield 35 grams after they dry....if they only lose 75% of weight. I've gotta veg for longer, and I'm thinking of going from solo cup to 5 gallon smart pot....I transplanted a few times this grow.

Yeah dry will be around 32.5 without deducting trim loss, unless it's already tight at weigh in. I personally hope it's more for you though.
Cause 32g here cost about 100 bucks in a DSP.

It's for personal use, and it was my first time, I'm happy to have good looking and smelling buds, I'm going to upgrade my light (bought used on craigslist)
