1st outdoor grow

This is my first outdoor grow. I have 10 royal queen special kush which is indica- 10 big bud, indica- 5 blue widow indica/sativa , one called 1024 which is sativa- one called hammerhead, indica, 5 northern lights blue, indica, 5 black russian, indica, and 4 called ice, and 5 moby dick, pure sativa.

I will be using fox farm ocean forest- then using all three fertilizers grow big, big bloom, and tiger bloom.

Are these meant for hydro set ups, or can I use them for outdoor plants?

Also, I plan to use the ocean forest to sprout them in. I read something that said I should mix this into the first inches of topsoil when I transplant them.

Does anyone know the answer to my fertilizer question, or know if I need to mix this stuff into the top soil outdoors.

I was wondering if I could just transplant them outdoors without mixing this into the soil as well.

Also this is a big concern of mine. I live in the mid west usa, and it said flowering time on most of these is 10 weeks. I will not be able to sprout them till May 1st. I don't know how long the vegetation period is, but I'm concerned there wont be enough time. If I sprout on may 1st- will they have enough time to finish by late September if they take 10 weeks to flower?

Yes you should have enough time. After the summer solstice on June 21st (I think), it will start switching to flowering mode. I'd say you'd be done in September sometime.

A big question I have about moving sprouts from indoors to outdoors, will they start flowering immediately after you put them outside?? If we are going to move plants from inside to outside should we use a low light regimen indoors like a 14/10 schedule?? I haven't really gotten an answer to this.

This is my first attempt so I'm not sure. I would imagine you should give them as much light as possible during veg, then they will just kick into flowering in late june.

The moby dick I was talking about said it will produce 1500 grams per plant, and the ice claims to produce 6-7 lbs per plant. I highly doubt I will see results like this, because I am so late in the year.

LOL. Yeah. Those are pretty ridiculous claims. I've seen Dinafem's grow of Moby Dick and it was a HUGE tree, but I believe it was vegged indoors for a while before being taken out in the spring.

I germinate my seeds in March and use 18/6 lighting for the first 2-3 weeks. I then start cutting the lighting back one hour a week until I get to 14/10, which is the amount of daylight available in my area during May and when they go outside permanently. The same with clones.

If plants are sexually mature (4-8 weeks for seedlings and clones are sexually mature) taken from 18/6 to 14/10 they will go into flower. Most will revert to vegetation, but that's a lot of unnecessary stress and in some instances that stress will create hermies.

If anyone is confident and has an answer please let me know. DO I have enough time to get any finished product if I wait to sprout till may 1st?
I dont want to sprout this year if they wont finish in time. I live in the midwest usa. Most of them say they take 10 weeks to flower.
Will I have enough time?

I don't live in your area but in Southern Oregon at lower elevations our indica always finish around the last week of September first week of October.

Other than size it doesn't make much difference when they're planted, May or June. Flowering will start towards the end of July and the buds will be hard, calyxes fully swollen and display decent trichome color +/-10 weeks later.

So If I plant on may 1st.... they will have about 7 weeks of veg.. before they start to flower. Does anyone have any idea how tall/big they will get?

Do you think I may be able to get an oz off an indica this late in the year?

Their growth depends on how much attention is paid to the basics of soil condition, water and weather.

I don't understand your statement of this late in the year.

The reason I ask is because I have been told you should have them at least 6 inches big by mid April in the mid west.

I will not be able to sprout even till May 1st.
I have good fox farm nutes and FF soil.

I know my indicas might turn out okay, but I'm just wondering if I should plant the sativa, or save it for next year.

Any thoughts on the sativa? You think my indica might be able to grow 3ft. in 6-7 weeks before flower starts?

Given the right growing circumstance, indica should exceed 3' before going into flower.

Dependent on the strain, sativa could finish in November.

Thanks for your thoughts. I will post pictures.
The sativa is moby dick and it needs 75 days to flower. I will try to grow it, and just hope it does not freeze. Nov. is pretty cold around here...

do you know if the fox farm nutes I mentioned earlier in post are good for outdoor, or only indoor hydro?>

This is the exact same soil/nute combo that i have used the previous three years and it works great. I love these nutes and they work amazing when u follow the feeding schedule. When buying from fox farm just make sure ur getting the right nutes because they make the same nutes for soil and hydo. So just read the bottle and it will tell you. Good luck this year

It's my understanding that FF has a line of dry fertilizers, their Peace of Mind line, that contain no salts, which can be beneficially added to soil.

As an organic grower who utilizes AACT teas to care for my soil mix I don't use anything with salts that damage or kill bacterial and fungal microbes servicing plant root systems. And if I did I sure wouldn't be paying FF prices. But, to each his own.

i would hold off on the sativas this year. they need a much longer time than the indicas, and whatever it says they're flowering time is, add a week or two just to make sure. you could plant the indicas though, although you won't get the full potential. it varies per strain, but my estimate is 1-4 dried ounces per plant if you were to sprout may 1st. on the otherhand, if you started vegging in february, set them out in april, by harvest you could possibly have 1-2 maybe even 3 lbs on your hands. depending on the strain. next year you should try that. good luck.

Thanks I know, I started way to late. If I plant the sativa this year, do you think I would even be able to pull an oz off the lady by mid october? or will it just not go into flower, and just veg forever before dying?
