yo wannasmoke, firstly, nice effing cab bro. this is very similar to the first of 4561534384 ideas i had about a perpetual setup but i also included the clones in there too. now, i have a completely seperate place for clones which would enable me to do something like you have here. with your permission id like to jack your design and play with it lol and since youre offering lol i do have a few questions. one thing is i might consider putting 3 plants instead of 2. if possible. i too will be LST-ing.
1. i had a damn near impossible time finding a cabinet the size of yours. what brand and where did you pick it up and how much did it cost? this was the biggest detternt for me to do somethin different cuz i coul;dnt find the actual cabinet!!
2. the lights. how are you hanging them and is it adjustable? i cant really tell but it almost looks like bunjee cords. and the panel holding the lights... is it cardobard, particle board, wood?
3.looking at the (assuming) back of your cab... i see the PC fans..how loud are they? also.. what are the little boxes surrounded by red tape?
4. what are you using for odor control? ill be using a combination of carbon filters and home made ona buckets.
5. slight confusion here.. lookin at pic#2 the doors are open but theres a wall of wood lol is this a front view? then what are pic#3 and pic#7 views of? just trying to figure out how you access the plants and if its airtight you know?

sorry for picking your design apart bro lol i think its great, hence why id like to somehwat replicate it. looks stealth as a mofo! just what im aiming for
Bichyn, you can jack whatever part of this design that you like if it helps the cause and as for your questions, here are my answers:
1) This Cabinet was actually hand made so there is no brand. I have had it sitting in my garage for YEARS with the intent to do what i have finally gotten around to.
2) The lights socket are mounted to a wooden panel that has been covered in aluminum tape. On the upper side, I have mounted wire on each end from front to back and there are hooks in the ceiling (and underside of the shelf for the lower chamber). I have fine gauge VERY strong cord attached to the wire, one on each end of the panel. The hooks are mounted directly above where the wire is mounted to panel. The cord that is attached to the wire, goes up through it's respective hook and from there they go horizintally to the left side of the cabinet where another hook is mounted. THey BOTH go through this hook on the side and then in the bottom left front corner of the chambers, there is a lanyard hook where the cords are tied off. Untying them from the lanyard hook allows you to pull or release the cords and subsequently the panel moves up or down. Hope you could follow that.
3) The PC fans, I bought from a local computer shop. They are 53cfm fans and they are FREAKING SILENT !!! You can heat a mouse fart when all 4 are running. The boxes surrounded by red tae are light manifolds (I am going to change them up to look a little better). With the light panels being able to move up and down and the power cords going out through a hole in the back of the cab, I had to seal the holes to not allow light into the chamber. Same principal on the intake fans. The Exhaust fans will be covered with an aluminum vent and will both funnel into one hose that will go into a carbon scrubber.
4) I am going to use a DIY Carbon scrubber. For only 2 plants I think that will be enough however I will be mounting another larger CFM fan on the outer end of the filter to PULL the air (lets hope I can get a larger fan that is as quite as the ones I already have.)
5) Pic#2, this is an inner door to seal the chambers. Cut to fit and mounted with velcro and sealed with weather stripping. Pic #3 is the front of the cabinet with the inner doors off. Each chamber is covered with it's own door so I can play with the girls that are veggin when the flowering ladies are sleeping. I would say it is about as airtight as I could get it.
ABSOLUTE stealth was my goal and so far so good. I guess we will just have to wait and see if the carbon filter keeps up !!
I have not yet had a grow in it and I am currently running the lights and fans with a tub of water in the chambers to get a handle on the heat (which I don't think will be an issue) and the humidity. I have some clones a phone call away so as soon as I am satisfied with everything, it's a go. If I can get an oz from each plant I will be more than happy. Just for personal use so that is plenty.
If I can help out in any other way, hit me up and I would be glad to lend a hand.
Peace

dude thanks so much for takin the time n give me the write up. much appreciated. im gonna spend some time dwelling on this shit, your answers, for sure. so, i took the initiative and picked up a cabinet today. i will be almost replicating your design but with two dressers instead of one with two compartments. the approx measurements of it are 44" tall 32" wide 17.5" deep. the teir where it gets slightly smaller at the top 2 drawers is indented about 2 in on each side. so the inner dimension reads about 26 in wide (as opposed to 30 at the base). i havent decided which yet, but this will be the veg or flowering room depending what the size of the 2nd cab is. i want there to be 3 plants in here. it is for personal, and well, i smoke a lot haha
i paid 15 bucks for it and i was lucky enough to fit it in the back of my gf's scion xa lol (i drive a mustang and couldnt get a truck til monday, no delivery either). im going to paint it all black and put handles on and make it look functional. cleanin it is a must. im gonna give it a more sturdy bottom and gut the rails and hollow this bitch out. still tryin to figure out how im going to leave myself access but ive only had the thing a few hours to play with this. the bottom drawer wasnt finished (missing pieces, not broken)but it dont matter. here's some pics check it out. im gonna sit back, rip on some "first lady" as my bro dubbed it lol and let these thoughts run wild!! thanks again to everyone for the input

forgive me guys, im ripped and not completely computer savvy haha also, the back of the dresser and the bottom are thin plywood and im thinkin both will be replaced with something more sturdy. (if i need to?) and of course ill make it airtight. no light/smell leaks.

meet THE HULK!!!:bigjoint:

edit: now im debating using between like 6 42w cfls..enough? or option 2.. a 150w hps (if affordable...mh for veg box)
ill figure lighting then ventilation and noise level then odor control (filter/ona buckets)

also...debating between panda sheild or just flat white paint for the inside...mold/mildew control...the list never ends!! lol

got plenty to sleep on

ill make a journal out of this, but i cant be bothered with it now and dont know how it do it either. ill get around to it when i get more to show for the project

ok guys im back. had a busy few days.. back to work here.

ive decided to go with some panda film to line both veg and flowering cabinets, but now my current dilemma is lighting.

(pics above) approx measurements: 44" tall 32" wide 17.5" deep. the teir where it gets slightly smaller at the top 2 drawers is indented about 2 in on each side. so the inner dimension reads about 26 in wide (as opposed to 30 at the base).

now, would anybody say that i have enough room to run a HPS light in this cabinet? of course given proper ventilation... or am i better off going with some cfl's?

ive hollowed it out and sanded down some areas and cleaned the inside out pretty damn good. any kind of disinfectant you guys would recommend using? bleach? just want to kill any germs that could harm the ladies lol

I agree..nice cab. I'll be excited to see how your grow turns out. I'm on my second grow, this time with one female northern lights in a cabinet about like yours(I've become attached to it). I'm using (7) 26 watt 2700k cfl bulbs for flower and I used (4) 26 watt 6500k bulbs to veg. I switched to 12/12 at about three weeks from seed and 8 or 9 inches tall. Now she's on fifth week of flower and 18'' tall and probably about that wide. VERY bushy. I could fit two in my cabinet and that's it. But she is flowering slowly and it isn't the lights because i used even less light on my first grow and it was perfect.

Here's what I think I have been doing right: Using 6500k for veg, not overwatering, using 26watt bulbs instead of 42 watt bulbs(because they're way cheaper per watt)...and that's about it.

Here's what I think I didn't do right: Using MG soil and nutes, not checking pH.

I didn't read every single post in this thread cause there's a bunch and they get hard to read after awhile but since I have one grow completed I thought I would just give a summary of my experience.

thanks bro. i appreciate the input. let me know how your NL turns out cuz im sure youll be done before me lol i'm aiming for what you produced, about that height and VERY bushy. and on a realistic note im looking at two plants of that size, maybe a lil smaller.

how is your cab on heat? and what kinda fans are you running?

edit: i forgot to mention that this will be one of two cabs, one for flowering and one for veg

Seeds have arrived. Props to nirvana for the shipping.

Cab status: I'll have the doors on tomorrow ( good excuse to buy new drill and saw lol) then hopefully grabbin some poly shield from a hydroponics shop nearby.

Will post results soon!

My cab is good on temps. Doesn't get very hot at all. I have two 120mm cpu fans out of the back of the cabinet, close to the top. I designed my reflective hood so that the air is pulled through it first to cool the bulbs and then out the warm air goes. I have two AC/DC adapters powering the fans, one at 12v and the other at 5.9v and they are wired so I can switch back and forth at will.. On low the fans make virtually no noise. Sometimes I have to turn them on low to try to keep heat in the cabinet! Of course Those two fans don't work well with a carbon scrubber, which I'm not using. So many options when you build a cabinet...way too many! Good luck with the NLs.
