So guys in the next couple months I am plan on starting my first real grow. I have had done grows before with little success. ( I was using cfl lighting and on got a couple ozs per grow because of that.) So that being said I would like to present my proposed grow

Grow tent will be 2x4x5

Lighting I have a few questions about.
I was thinking of using a 400w hid light system, but I cannot vent the light outside the room which I will grow in.Can I still use this an hid light without venting outside? If not I will want to use a 300w galaxyhydro led.
I will have a carbon filter to keep smell out.
Now for soil I was going to do a coco coir perlite soiless mix. Is that easy to manage or should go with soil?
For nutes I was thinking about using GH trio or Jacks Classics
Some questions about the nute?
Do I give my plants nutes every water or in like every other time?
What should I start my nutes at half strength or quarter strength?
When do I start to give my plants nutrients?
Watering
Home much water should I give my plants?
I saw on other forums say that I ther should be 10 to 20% of the water to run off?

Also I will be doing dinafem jack crit autos so height will not be a problem?

Any help would be much appreciated

First off, read up man. It won't all come spoonfed as you are setting up YOUR own microclimate. But on some basics asked:
1.) I say go soil. KISS!!
2.) nutes - KISS. I rec DynaGro Foliage Pro. As to when and how much, it all depends on what is in the soil/medium. I nute every other waterind.
3.) Yes, always water until you get some runoff.
4.) Height. Depends on lights right? With HID (I am a LED grower), subtract space for hood and plants getting too close to bulbs also always factor in pot height. I don;t grow autos or dinafem jack....
Good luck.

I understand autos do not produce the bud quality of photo-period, but with time constraints I cannot do anything else,I need to do a grow in under 3 months because I am moving and I dont think I can do that with photo period-plants. Also I am looking for cbd production, because that is what I really need and auto give a good amount.

  • I think modern autos will give most photos a run for their money if grown in good conditions. You can't go wrong with NLxBig Bud autos.
  • I'm not sure there is a very high CBD auto yet. There are lots of very high CBD photos. I grew two. They were ok. I wasn't really impressed with the end product though. I no longer buy into the CBD hype.
  • 300w Mars will not likely fill that space. Better get the higher wattage. Is it 5 watts or 3 watts bulbs? With 5 watts you need to remember you will need some clearance as you will burn the plants. 900w LED sounds more like a fit. You will want around 450 true watts.
  • Check Craigslist and local hydro stores for great deals on used hoods and HID lights. $100 should get you a setup.
  • The heat from an HID or any light source has to go somewhere. If you can't vent outside then can you cut a hole in the wall and run the heat into an adjacent room? That's what I do. Or run it into an attic or spare bath or something.. With a good hood and a 400w HID my temps are only 2 degrees above ambient. LED still produces heat.
  • Feed - water - water. OR as needed. Yes, you want runoff.
  • Go easy on nutes. Nutes are more like vitamins and less like food. Light is the food. If you use Fox Farms soil you really don't need nutes for 3-4 weeks.
  • I use GH Floranova Series. Works fine. Fox Farms Trio seems decent enough.
  • Follow the feed schedule on the nute manufactures website.
  • Forget coco. There is no reason for you to go down that road. With Fox Farms plus 25% perlite you will be much better off.
  • With autos just start them in 3 gallon pots and keep them there, Don't "F" with them. In week 4 you should tie down the main cola which will cause your lower shoots to rise up.

All good shtuff! Read, Read, Read , and Read some more. A little knowledge can grow nice budz, a little ignorance will kill 'em quicker than you can say..."I took all this advice instead of taking the time to learn for myself"

BTW Fox Farms is da shizzit! I use FFHF w/ 30% perlite, use the nutes according to their feed charts and smoke my outrageous dank!

Good Luck and Great Grow!

I am running basically the same setup you are talking about right now(except the carbon filter) I love the stink!, the only difference is I am using 2 galaxy hydros, I am using the coco pearlite mix in smart pots, 3 gallon size for veg, 5 gallon for flower, grow is doing well, but I am going to up my leds for the next one, so I defiantly think you might want to go bigger than a single 300, I've been looking into some diy Cobb lighting setups and they seem pretty sweet, anyways good luck on your grow man!

And for a decent cbd auto look into critical rapido, I hear good things about that strain

Thank you guys for all the help I do appreciate it. I can't spend the money to get more than one led and cannot cut any holes in my walls when I move into the new place( living in an apartment). That being said I might stick to using some cfl bulbs sadly and just do 2 plants under 300w of cfl lighting, I think I am going to go with the foff with the jacks classics because I have goo things about them.
