1st time grow

Hello, this is my first time trying to grow since i was a kid and i had a few questions. Mind you this is just an experiment grow, i don't expect a whole lot from it if anything at all.

-Indoor
-I am growing under a 4' 2 bulb F54 t5 HO - 1 veg bulb and 1 bloom bulb (6x7 closet)
-MG soil (i took most of the ferts (balls?) out.) - I will change the soil after transplant.
-Started in dixie cups
-24/0 lighting at the moment (keeping the plants 2-5 inches from the light)
-No ferts other than what i missed in the MG soil.
-Water only when the soil is dry (test with finger 3inches in)
-It's bag seed from some really, really good cannabis. Friend was growing sour kush, some g13 strain and cheese at the time of when i got the seeds, so not sure if it's one of them.

Okay, a few of the questions i have:

-Is it safe to use rain water? as in collecting it and using it.
-Is it possible to fully veg + flower 1-3 plants under this t5? I don't care about yield.
-When should i transplant? Are they almost ready? (pics below)
-How can i keep them short? Should I top/lst? Or will that just make them bigger and bushier in the long run? (i need to be able to keep them small-ish, considering the t5 won't penetrate a big plant)
-Is it safe to put a fan on them at this age to promote a stronger stem? (pics below)
-Nutes, what does cannabis need more of during veg/flower? Can i grow naturally without any nutes? Or will that cause me more problems?
-Can you see signs of root rot on a plant?
-Do these girls look okay for 2 weeks?

Any questions answered would be much appreciated, thank you. :bigjoint:

I think you need to do a lot more research on the world wide web. This site has all the answers just search. I would answer but you want to know a lot so I think you need to read a lot more, on the good old mj.

I understand, thanks for the advice. I'll try to search for the answers around here, sorry about that.

rainwater is normally very good to use, only if its not acid rain lol.
i usually transplant when the leaves extend over the edges of the pot (so i would transplant now)
put a fan on them, if its a very slight breeze, you dont want them blowing over and causing the plant stress
yes the plant will definitely show an illness if it is experiencing root rot
and those girls look good for two weeks :)
topping/lst will definitely keep them shorter, but it will cause them to be bushier

You're doing the right thing saintdraco. Yeh you could get a fan on them, and transplant/re-pot into their final pot (ideally) Don't worry about nutes at the moment. In fact there's not much more for you to do, which gives you a few weeks to ease about on here, soaking up the wealth of knowledge! ;)
Welcome!
