1st time grower need help!

hey everyone this is my first post and first grow so please excuse my noobness. anyways after about a month of reading up on everything i could possibly find about growing, i decided it was time to try it myself.

details...

grow space- 7 feet high 7 wide and 3 deep
number of plants- 4(5 gallon buckets)
soil- happy frogs potting soil
nutes- foxfarm(just started using a week ago)
lights- about 160 watts of cfls with 10k lumens(6500k)

other details- plants are 24 days old from seed and are 6 inches tall(pics coming soon). i also water every 2 days with distilled water. im also really worried about the size of my plants... they just seem so small. SO PLEASE HELP A NOOB OUT!

Well first off no nutes needed. If you start small in a party cup then move to a 1 gallon pot then to a 2-3 gallon pot then to a 5 gallon pot. All the nutes are there for around your 1st or 2nd week of flower. All your doing now is adding water to soil that has no roots. Basically flushing all the nutes out and wasting water. It might be to late now to change that but don't do it next time. In soil you don't really add nutes till you see them get a little yellow. Happy frog is a nice and heathy mix.

I agree with fab and warlock not enough light, started nutes too early. You need worry about roots first. Hang in there, you learn a lot during this first grow, then correct mistakes and away you go....rw

not enough lights for starters
Yeh, I read somewhere that it takes 100w for the first plant and 50-100 per extra plant

so in your case 4 plants =400w or a little less but more is better as they say.

are you flowering with cfl lights too?

Cuz I also read that (HID) hps lights will penetrate to lower levels of the plant. Just giving you a heads up if you didn't go and buy the 2700k lights for flowering yet lol.
