size is16ft long by 12ft wide with 7ft tall ceiling thats 4ft wide and angle down to 4ft tall walls down the 16ft length. basic barn roof shape. I have water, 110v and 220v access. also i have a 4inch vent hole in roof I can use. I need to know best way to lay this out, should i use a series of boxes or tents?what kind and how many lights? i have 10 feminized trainwrecks, 4 auto bubblelicious and 2 free feminized unknown strain seeds on the way so i need to get this going! I need good info because im recently out of work due to lupus and waiting on disability. 2 kids in college, 1 in jhs and plenty of bills. im a maintenance tech so i know electric and can build anything. i have lots of parts: pnu valves, hyd valves, temp controllers ect... ( thought about auto lighting, watering and temp control) can this be done in attic space? I need to think about electric bill thats why I have the 220v up there. thanks in advance for the help!

If it was me, I'd get a couple of tents, 1000watt per tent and 8 plants per tent, but I don't know what season it is where you live so you might have heat issues.

I agree with critical. Heat is going to be an issue. Unless your in winter wonderland. Save that space to dry your buds. 1000 watt I feel gets a lil hot and requires more work to cool. 600 and under for me. I just feel the temp is easier to control. Just my two pennies.:blsmoke:

I have found that with what we pay in electricity, and our climate, an indoor grow with aircon becomes prohibitive for me. So during our summer, I will have an outdoor grow. edit: in Antarctica

im doing 10 plants atm under 2 400w hps and I have to have 2 big rvk fans for outlet just for the heat and a sep one for cold air intake......yer it deff can be done not cheep tho and u will see a big diff in electric bill I put twice as much in now running my setup.....

I would build a enclosed room with insulation and drywall
I think your main problem would be heat though, if u are good with duct work u can run a duct from your a/c to your newly built room
If u did that I would maybe reccomend a bigger vent
Also it mainly depends on if u want a cycle or flower in the same room
If u want a cycle going, tents are gonna work better
Or maybe u have room to build 2 rooms

I would try to switch everything to 220v if possible
Also if u got the money get some led's that would be a good solution for the problems of heat and electricity
Otherwise you are gonna have an expensive project

You can do it. Its going to take some work.
IMO- I'd add some sky lights to what ever side of the roof gets the best sun exposure. there easy to put in.
Louver both Gable ends. inside doors to block your louvers when it gets cooler outside. From the outside it looks normal.
Supplement with HID lighting when needed.
Take the cost over the long run in electrical, and put that into remodeling to grow.
Like the others have said heat will be your major issue, but if you can open up the gable ends you'll have some good air flow.
In the winter you can close everything and run your HID's.
That's if you don't have neighbors right next door.

exactly what I done texas built an enclosed room sealed off ect ect just like building a room in a room....and as I sed I had to have 2 rvk fans just to bring my temps down...

yer good idea topfuel maybe a skylight.....so once u have done your room and it dose get a bit hot could always open it a jar.....

I'd look at see if you can get a couple used patio doors, usually you can get them for free. hinge them, and use them as sky lights. You can open them up when you need airflow.

i live in a neighborhood and not sure about the skylights drawing attention. not to mention my family and friends asking about them. i have another option, i have a 8ft x 16ft space under front porch. it has block with brick walls and a concrete ceiling. ceiling height is only about 5ft high and i would have to run electric to it.(kicking myself for not doing it when i built the house!). i dont like having an outside entrance either. i would really like to make attic room work, i could duct ac to the room fairly easy. would hydroponics work better in a hard to cool space? thank you everyone for all your inputs!

Ive found the easiest way to light seal a room, is building a room, within a room, instead of racking your brain too hard trying to use exsisting structures not made for light seal. Tents, or simply drywall room with a couple 2x4's go a long way. If your going to clone, and not grow from seed everytime, like many do, you will want a completely separated, light sealed veg area. simple way, is dry wall with a hole, like 2 feet of ducting, and a fan , so the air in one room, can move to another. If your trying to conserve money on fans n AC n shit.

i dont have one...........just sounds strange...........but maybe firewood .....

Firewood...that's way better than my idea! Haha...I'm just kidding, rape isn't funny. My bad, ya'll...But my opinion of that is, stick with the taller space...5 feet vertical isn't much space once you get pots and lights in there.
