1x Mars Hydro II 900w or 2x Mars Hydro II 400w?

New to using LED lights and have been using a mars hydro II 400w in a small tent (3x3), I want to ensure I am getting the best possible light distribution within that small area. The mars 400w is suggested for a 2.5 x 2.5 space but that dwindles down to 2x2 for flowering.

My question is...would it be more efficient (better) to use a Mars Hydro II 900w or buy another 400w and daisy chain them? I am currently growing 2x Jack Herer in the space, was going to try for 4 but assumed and rightfully so...that a 3x3 would not be enough space.

Couple pics of them attached...veg phase.

If you ever wanted to set up a vegging area I would get The 900watt. If not I would add the 400watt.

Sucks to have equipment lying around not getting used.

You're working with 9 sq ft of area. HID and older tech diodes like those used in Mars and other 'blurple' fixtures need approximately 50w/ sq ft to provide optimum light levels. You will need 400-450w of actual power consumption-the '400's' run about 150w/fixture and the '900' is about 350w.
You won't know how much you're leaving on the table until you step up to better components.

If you're interested in some last generation cree cobs that are chinese built I have four sitting around collecting dust.

Pm me and we can talk. I don't need the money so not the reason posting. I'm just trying to help a brother out.

Nice info, thanks.
I understand the Mars II's are lower end, for me its about cost atm, I do plan on getting better equipment over time, what would you recommend? I have read the kind LED's are worth the cost...any truth to that?

I’ve been down the cheap led road. Not worth it.
I have Vero7 COBs from timer grow lights.

Very happy now.

I’m new to inside and just now putting a room together. I’ve been reading some about these new Mars lights and wondering if anybody is using them yet?
