2 400w hps in a 3 1/2 sq ft room +rep

ok so i checked it out i have 2 400w system 2 hps 1 mh so i plan on running both 400w system they run both mh/hps bulbs. is it over kill to have that much light etc in a 3.5 sq ft room or what? i will rep you and i only got a ocs.fan going druing light hours.

so veg 400w 53,000 lumen , flow 800w 106,000 lumen. input is great ther space is 4ft high 3ft long and 1 1/2 ft deep. is 800w too much for 1 plant and 2 seedling that are on 12/12 from seed?

You sure it's 3.5sq ft. That's about the size of the hood alone. I'd think one light would be sufficient.

you never know depending on how reflective the walls are, give it a shot, watch for bleaching and heat issues. i think it's doable as long as you can keep temps under control.

if you run those two lights in that small a space you would have super high temps unless its not closed in . i had 1 400w in 3x3x7 and had a difficult time keeping temps good(75-80). as far as it being to much lumen wise 800w is not excessive i would wait till flower to have both on. heat will be your problem not lumens

hey man two sounds a little over kill for a 3 1/2 sq/ft room. one should do just fine! but if you really want to stick both of those in there your going to have a hell of a time keeping that temp down in that small area! they would have to be vented hoods with a good size exhaust fan blowing all that heat threw those hoods and out of that room! plus i would have that ocs fan going all day long! your going to need a lot of air circulation in that hot box. you dont want your room going above 80 deg. and in the summer with two 400w i see you having a difficult time with that!

i had it running and the temps got 2 85 deg with both running

its a long room but i closed it off to a certain about the whole room is 8lx1.5dx 15h

i used emergency blankets to reflect light

i made my own hood . really wasnt a diff in temps its usually 77-85 max with 1 light and the same was ran during 2 lights, but i only got a 14" tall x 2 ft wide bush. i just dont want to over kill that 1 plant and the 2 seedling white widow and hash plant haze are 12/12 from seed so i was wondering if thats enough light for them all and what should i expect for yield in 2 gal pot i only vegged the bush for 2wks and its been in 12/12 since last month on the 12th. and it just started showing pistils like 1 wk ago. any ideas and i will rep you all for input.

thats 9 sq ft thats what your supposed to have a 400w at in space.

you dont calculate that way its always length x width = total. you should know that its sq ft which gives the area. 3L x 1.5w = 3.5 sq ft.

3x1.5x4 =12.5

You are correct if you are calculating sq ft of the floor, but for vent purpouses you have to calculate the entire space. How do you come out with 12.5?

3L x 1.5= 3.5 x 4=12 minus the .5 ft or it would be 14 to be exact but by esitmation since its under 5 would round it down to the next lowest number. so my bad its either 14 or actually 13 thats where i got it from. got an associates degree in accounting. so numbers is my hobby lol. but your right. thats how much vertical room i have but i dont use that. lights are 8 in above the foliage.

i looked at that strain but its an outdoor strain and if thats all the space you have i would not let it veg too long or it will take over you grow space. love the math lessons. area vs volume who will win

yeah i planned on using bush master on the purple widow just to be safe i guess. so like 2-3wk veg and flow from there?

Nelly, just remember in small grows unless you have your strain dialed in most of the time you wind up using the entire space :) I would say 2 week veg and to try LST or a small scrog and shootfor the starts. as snoop says "smoke weed everyday"!

have a look at my journal, im using 2 x 400watt hps, my room is pretty big and i still struggle with heat beeing up in 31c sometimes.. i gave theese girls 4 weeks veg and quite alot of lst. still..now 1 week into flower they are growing into a god damn forest in here..

unless you have cooltubes and one hell of a fan i cant see you pulling this small room out tbh..
