2 400watt or 1 1000watt for this setup?

First off I will be running lumatek digital ballasts... I have a 60 in cool tube in a long and skinny grow area and was wondering which would yield me more; two 400watters spread out by about 20in or one 1000watter set in the middle of the tube?

I am going to buy dual MH/HPS ballast and just change the bulbs out for veg/flowering. Also this will be a SCROG grow.

I would go with the two 400w on a long skinny scrog setup myself. much better spread and with scrog you will be able to keep lights close enough. The 1000w would be better if you wanted tall plants because it pushes the lumnes further.

If you want to go any wider then 3 feet then consider 2 600w but make sure it stays at least a foot away from the top of your canopy.
10K lumnes is what the sun provides outdoors at ground level. I have found indoors about 20k is best.

I know you didn't mention 600 but two of them would be the best bang for your buck my 2 cents

first off thanks for the help, and yeah I've been looking into 600's as well but the heat and extra cost of running them is whats keeping me away. when I'm running 2x400 im lookin at 800watts total while 2x600 is 1200watts total which results 1/3 more cost to run them. Am I right in thinking that? and at that point I might just look at getting a third 400watt and getting an even better spread out of the light.

I'm in need of some serious help with this dilemma, am I wrong? How much more would I yield with 2 600s?
