2 600 watt or 1 1000 watt lights

I say this have you grown same strain under a 600 then under a 1000? ive seen it i can go see it now. there is a diff in bud size. why do you think you can buy 600's so cheap? when you use a 1000 you will never go back

Your standard 1000w HPS has about 140000 lumens and a 600w HPS has about 90000 lumens

140000/1000 = 140 lumens per watt

90000/600 = 150 lumens per watt.

Yep that's right Madfrog..you would have done better with the two 600 watt lamp setup than one or even two 1000 watt HID's!!! The electricity cost is cheaper because it's still rated 600 watts a piece not 1000, and you won't waste lighting by over excessive lighting.

I brought up my 400w HID because of your annecdotal bullshit of a 600w HID will only get you .5 to .75 gpw and a 1000w HID will get you .75 to 1.1gpw...that's total bullshit.I can link you to plenty of grows that shatter your annecdotal bullshit.

One grower using a 400w HPS scrogging one plant of Chronic got over a pound dried,all dense fat buds.

Bobblehead over at ICmag was growing in a 6x6 diameter room with vertical racks (vert sog) with 3x stacked 600w HPS's and was harvesting between 3 and 5 pounds (strain dependent).

Heath Robinson did the same but with a hydro setup using PVC and 600w HPS's and getting way over 1.5gpw...more like 2 to 2.2gpw

Oh and my 400w vert barebulb grow,was with 5 completely different genetics from bagseed,in soil to boot,and I got 336 grams.

I'm currently vegging out 5 cuts of my keeper mom from that grow and bet I hit a pou d or slightly better with my 400w HPS.

Sp your annecdotal bullshit of 600w HID's will only net a grower .5 to .75 gpw and a 1000w HID will net a grower .75 to 1.1 gpw is just that...BULLSHIT!
 
And 600w ballasts cost more than a 1000w ballast smartass.


Don't try arguing with someone that has over 16 years of growing under their belt and a vast and deep knowledge about growing.

And after that, only Watts. And 1000 watt mag ballast is cheaper. I hope people realize that you need to change to a new bulbs every year.

You won't see the difference but the PAR spectrum intensity goes out first. So, one 1000w bulb is cheaper than 2, 600w bulbs.
 
you are doing the right thing. when you get ready to buy another get one with hortilux bulbs. trust me. huge diff. and a dim able ballast oh yeah you are gonna be set bro. my grow area isnt big enough for them but my friends is. and omg he switched his bulbs for this grow and he cant believe the diff. he is at 4 weeks flower and his buds are size of 3 weeks flower last grow with cheaper bulbs. the money is worth it, cant go wrong with hortilux. when i buy a tent you know what ill be using if i go with hps.

I have both 600 and 1k

more 6oos will give you better coverage but less penetration and less intensity. Therefore you can get your lights closer losing less light being lost off to the side.

1ks are far more intense giving bigger colas but you have to hang them a little higher and you lose some light off to the sides due to the extra height.

so for me 600's through first several weeks of flower then switching to 1ks to really pack on the weight.

I would agree that supplying between the minimum of 50w per square foot of canopy and the maximum of 66w per square foot of canopy is best.

Now I know lumens aren't necessarily as important as PAR watts because lumens is a measurement of how our eyes perceive a liggts brightness/intensity and I believe we can all agree that the more intense the light (to an extent before reaching diminishing returns) the better.So with that said...

1kw bulb has 140000 lumens and a 600w bulb has 90000 lumens.To find the efficiency we look at lumens per watt.To find lumens per watt we divide the total lumen rating of the bulb by the wattage of the bulb,ie;

140000/1000 = 140 lumens per watt

90000/600 = 150 lumens per watt.

Hands down the 600w is more efficient.

Say for instance you use 2x 1kw lights over a given canopy,we'll say a 40 square foot canopy a.k.a. a 5x8 area.That gives you 50w per square foot of canopy and 7000 lumens per square foot,which is good,but you only have 2 sources of light/over lapping light,which is another good thing,but...

In the same 5x8 or 40 square foot area and utilizing 4x 600w HPS's you would be providing plants with 60w per square foot of canopy and 9000 lumens per square foot of canopy,as well as providing that canopy with 4 overlapping liggt sources,which is better.

Now can you see how a 600w HID is more efficient?

but what I will say is that more 600's give you a little more even coverage and less hotspots.

but they cannot pack the weight on like a 1k will. even though the 1ks may be less efficient.

I am all for efficiency but if you can spend an extra 100 bucks a month to gain an extra grand in product....it's a no brainer to me.
 
what facts? have you grown same strain side buy side with 600 watt 2 of them vs 1 1000 watt? i can go see it now. All i can say is 15% diff in bud size. the 600 is sweet kinda reminds me of a young woman. the 1000 is pure power its a man's light. bro i love ya okay. im not trying to make you look bad but really shut up. you are diggin a hole you cant get out of. Right now thier is no light that can touch the 1000 watt hortilux. a 1000 watt can get 1 gram per watt easy. i would suggest ebb & flow. if soil mor elike .85-1.0 if ebb & flow .95- 1.15 per watt. Im gonna stop replying to you. you dont get it. smoke another and wake up. really. lmao. i want led so bad it hurts. but led isnt ready yet and the only hps worth it really is the 1000 watt hortilux.
