yeah each soil has a cup of ewc mixed in it, i also sprinkled a half inch on top. 1 is looking great the others i have started supplementing with a light dose of some grow big and tiger bloomLike you said yourself, the amendments in your soil may not be properly broKen down. Run some water through your containers. Not exactly a flush, but enough to get some run-off. If the run-off comes out the color of urine, dump more water through.
I'm not a coco expert, but I've seen other posts where people mentioned having trouble getting their coco based soil "going." Like you said, if your soil isn't fully cooked, you could have all kinds of issues going on. Run some water through, and see what comes out.
Then use some Earthworm Castings to make tea and jump-start the microbes in your pots. The bacteria and fungus will get to work "digesting" the amendments and stabilising the conditions in your soil. You might even try to top dress your pots with some EWC. I think that coco is inert, or has no microbes. You need those little guys do to the work in your soil.
you messed up but, lets not blame the organics... it doesnt sound like you fed them enough.like promised heres the update.
3 HSO gg#4 x blue fire 3 different phenos
2 DNA white walker 2 phenos
1 RP tangie
the synthetics cured all the deficiencies in about 10 days but some just didnt put on any weight.
i took down the 2 WW ill be lucky if i get a O and a half out of them, one only got me 10 grams the other one filled up a little more maybe an O after it dries up.
the tangie recovered well and has 4 long resin covered colas- very impressed with the tang, cant wait to sample it.
kept 1 GG4 x BF organic as it was healthy from the start and might get 3-4 O's out of that one.
the other 2 didnt put much weight out, one is a runt maybe a half an O the other maybe a O and a half.
conclusion - i think i saved the plants by going synthetic but the final weight was really disappointing, sticking with bottles for my indoor grows.
all that stuff you hear about organics smelling better is a myth TO ME because i took clones of the gg4 that was growing organically and cant tell the difference.
if i ever go organic it will be strictly outdoors just not worth the second guessing at least for me
they all got the same soil but only one out of 6 seem to thrive in it. just fed it water and molasses some ewc and its in its final week now.you messed up but, lets not blame the organics... it doesnt sound like you fed them enough.
yeah... um... not the best experiment to go making conclusions about "organics", let alone how organic your attempt actually was. no to mention your understanding of it. "flush" being the key questionable idea.they all got the same soil but only one out of 6 seem to thrive in it. just fed it water and molasses some ewc and its in its final week now.
all im saying is that i dont see much difference in smell or anything more special about the organic one compared to the others.
just more convenient to use bottles if your growing indoors imo
correct my soil didnt cook long enough. when i switched was in week 3 and with only 5-7 weeks left i couldnt wait for the microbes to start doing their thing. disappointed but if i ever grow outdoors i will atleast have this experience to fall back on. i dont have the space to do a proper organic grow indoors and dont see too many advantages to it except costI thought more people would have suggested worm castings and tea. I am going to guess that you didnt cook long enough. I had a similar problem when I started to use espoma products. Worm castings evened everything out.
I made a home tea brewer and use tea once a week when my plants look like your. If they snap out of it you wil be in business. they really dont look too bad if you could fix them.
Bottle nutes will the oppisite of the castings and tea, kill the microbiology, and that is exactly what you need to stablize your soil right now.
yes youre right, i mispoke what i meant to say was flush it with chlorinated water to kill of the microbes so they wouldnt burn the roots up. first organic grow pretty sure i would get better results the second time aroundyeah... um... not the best experiment to go making conclusions about "organics", let alone how organic your attempt actually was. no to mention your understanding of it. I did the same thing once. Mine burned real bad. funny thing, I reused the soil at the 7wk point and had one of my best grows. You are probably not that far away! FF nutes will kill your microbiology. That is what you need to focus on, worm castings will makes things right. Microbes will break everything down to a useable form. Did you use blood meal?correct my soil didnt cook long enough. when i switched was in week 3 and with only 5-7 weeks left i couldnt wait for the microbes to start doing their thing. disappointed but if i ever grow outdoors i will atleast have this experience to fall back on. i dont have the space to do a proper organic grow indoors and dont see too many advantages to it except cost
before i switched i added a half inch of ewc to the top soil and the soil had about 1 cup mixed in- waited a week and just said fuck it. not fast enough for meI did the same thing once. most people wil say that a 1/3 of your soil should be castings. Tea will do the same. My hydro store has a vortex brewer and they sell it by 5gals. I made a homebrewer for $200before i switched i added a half inch of ewc to the top soil and the soil had about 1 cup mixed in- waited a week and just said fuck it. not fast enough for me
did you use blood meal?plants looked worst than the pics show
yeah i used blood meal but it didnt prevent them from getting yellow. the heat in the soil wasnt allowing the roots to use it up im guessing,i was also supplementing with big bloom wich is liquid ewcdid you use blood meal?
I was told that blood meal will burn unless it ages. I think that is the source to your problem. Maybe someone with more exp could confirm?yeah i used blood meal but it didnt prevent them from getting yellow. the heat in the soil wasnt allowing the roots to use it up im guessing,i was also supplementing with big bloom wich is liquid ewc
