2 weeks into my first grow

I was nervous at first, but my ladies are doing fine. I constructed a 4'X4'X5'9" grow room in my basement. The frame is constructed out of 1"X2" bords and it is cover with black/white poly. I have one 47" T5HO light shining on them. I have all blue spectrum bulbs in it for now but I will change bulbs at flowering.

I germinated my seeds using presoak and plant. After soaking all night (Approx 12 hours) I drained the water and left them in the containers covered in a warm dark place while I built there new home. I was amazed to find all 8 of the seeds that I germinated had already cracked when I returned 8 hours later to take them to plant. I planted them in 3 gallon pots filled with FoxFarms Ocean Forest Soil, and wrapped 4 of them (the 4 white widow seeds) in clear cling wrap, the other 4, I left uncovered, I don't even know what strain they are since they came as 20 free seeds from Amsterdammarijuanaseeds.com, anyway I placed a small space heater in the area to keep the temp at about 80-82F and waited nervously. At first I was itchy assed and checked to see if they had sprung about every 4 hours, which just disappointed me and I assumed they fucked me. I waited a total of 72 hours, and the little fuckers were 3cm tall when I checked them. SWEET, all but 1 had come through.

Now the Ladies are almost 2 weeks old (Dec 9) and all of them are growing good. The white widow(all) is has sprouted 5 fingers and is about 15 cm tall. The other four are not far behind them.

I am about ready to begin using my veg fertilizer on them. I have FF Grow Big, but I want to research to make sure I get the Ph correct. Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for reading my ramblings. I am just excited about this first grow and don't want to fuck it up.

well-written journal entry you got there - and I'm excited that you're excited! good luck on your first grow; report back, let us know how the plants are coming along :)

Hey man sounds like you know a bit for your first grow. How many bulbs is in your t5 fixture? You might wanna get some more lights. 150 watt hps, some cfls or more t5s

4 bulbs for 20000 lumens, will be adding another fixture with 4 more bulbs as the plants grow.

You may want to consider acquiring a good pH testing meter; I've used the drops-kind of tester myself with success, but my next grow I'll be using a meter as I've discovered just how important pH testing of nutrient water is. Also, consider testing the run-off water from your plants. If it's too high or too low, you can then adjust when you water next. From listening to experienced growers, I've learned that fertilizing new seedlings can wait til week two or three. Have you added anything to your FoxFarm Ocean Forest soil? The seedlings can go longer without nutes if the soil is rich in nutrients. For what it's worth, I've also heard growers say that they don't feel the need to add nutes to the soil until the plant shows signs of hunger (which can be more than two or three weeks - maybe a month or longer.) Your pics are clear, good job on the upload. I can see that your seedlings are leaning to the light. If you have the time, you could turn the pots a quarter turn regularly for less leaning of plants.

looking very good man. i wouldn't really think about nutes for another week maybe two, i had mine in potting soil for two weeks, transplanted into 3 gallon pots using miracle gro soil and didnt feed them for 4 weeks. they were absolutely fine. im into 2nd week of flower and all six plants are between 2 and 3 foot high.
