20 hour days (10/10 cycle)?

I’ll just wait for somebody to jump on that grenade and actually document the real result.

I’ll just stick to the basics. Looks like the KISS METHOD : KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID just flew out the window and has a lot of supposition not worth wasting grow time . Stunting plants is like stunting kids ... why ?
I'm sure I'll do it eventually when I'm not working as much. As it is I'm out of the house too long at a time to manually change the time.
Whoever claims "all the experts say the plant needs 11 hours minimum to flower" really needs to try grown outdoors, and promptly quit listening to those retards they called experts.

I have 3 plants currently vegged for 4 weeks, and will be leaving them 8 more weeks until flowering them.
My partner works from home.
I'm keen to try a 10/10 cycle, my only issue would be that I haven't grown before and wouldn't have anything to compare it to.
Especially when I shall be 'Supercropping' for the first time..so may fuck that up.

Ps, I made a thing. 5Gallon container, filled 8/10th full of Lukewarm non-chlorinated water. 9000g of Sugar and 110g of Brewers yeast. Put a balloon on the end with a few little holes in it. :)

@Budzbuddha The KISS method would imply no LST, no HST, avoiding the no-till method etc, surely?

All of the above are techniques that evolved through tinkering and meddling with the plants environment. Keeping it simple is planting a seed and watering it when it looks thirsty ;)

I've heard a lot of growers talk about altering the 12/12 cycle - but usually it is still a 24 hour day (i.e. 13/11, etc).

Assuming relatively little growth occurs at the end of the light or dark cycles, it seems it would be feasible to shorten the length of BOTH and ultimately shave days or maybe even weeks off of the flowering period. Of course this may not work the best for your daily routine, as the on/off times are going to be different each day.

Also a 24 hour timer would not work of course, you need something more like a cyclestat that could do 10hrs on and 10hrs off.

Has anyone tried this? Or even further (8on/8off) - 16 hour days?
I have done this. I use an arduino and a 1.2 multiplier of ne second clock for timing. Essentially the arduino moves through the days faster.
I use red initiatiors and uv too.
I think the 10/10 schedule compacts the bud structure, smaller calyx, shorter nodes. As for yield, id be willing to bet yield per kwhr is the same, amd finish time, i have not run clones but the plant that I finished under 10/10 finishe about a week before the ones under 12/12.
It is psycologically demanding to run this cycle because the way the day rotates, automated watering/hydro will be your friend.

Semantics .... simple encompass known easy techniques . But creating / using CO2 in grows that may not fully utilize it “ complicates “ the environment. I assume you know that CO2 is heavier than air , therefore the plants benefit more from it raining down on them more than expelling below canopy.

So a hang bag EXHALE instead of a large DIY would have sufficed, add in a higher grow temp so plants can utilize their feed better and transpire. You would benefit more from proper air exchange than adding such a build. Humidity will surely rise at some point.

Ambient CO2 ppm falls around 300- 400 for any measurable growth you would need upwards of 1200-1500 .

That might be the ticket. If someone can just go ahead and work that out for me that would be just swell, as complicated math can give me mild naseau.
Prime numbers absolutely have enchanted properties.

Ok, I'll get right on that.....
An approximate 50 / 50 split based on a 20 to 24 hour day? Or can I start using longer days like I wanted to try too? A 36 hour day?

Like I said psycologically demanding, it might work but it fuck with your schedule and my happiness is more important than breaking the warp barrier with weed.:bigjoint:

Tent is as airtight as is possible and air is circling around the entire tent. I have a fan below, and air being pushed in through an inline fan, above.
I will take what you have said into consideration though, thank you.
I'm new to 'this'.

That type of thing scares me. It may be 1000% safe, and no more a hazard than a home computer. But it just looks dangerous to me. And I dont understand how to wire stuff and it's just way to complicated for a caveman like me :( same reason I cant have a nice led.

I really do want to try 10/10 soon though just moving the timer. Maybe this summer when I'm running 1 light not 3 and theres less on the line.

I'm sure some of you have noticed that when you run plenty of light the plants actually slump an go to sleep even during lights on. I'm pretty confident it wont be a catastrophe. Litterally the worst thing that can happen is seeds. Oh dear whatever will I do...

Understood, went this route because I was tired of the $20 timers failing every 6 months. In addition to light timing its esay to set up for environmental control.
If you check out the arduino tutorials on adafruit - my official c++ progaming language training was the how to make a light blink with the arduino. Turns out you can progam with a hammer!

I'm sure for many people it is extremely easy... but it's just not something I at all feel comfortable with. It's like using a ladder to get on a roof. Easy as can be for most people, some people simply wont.

I've actually had really good luck with timers, I I think I'm still using the same times for 8 ish years. I "may" have had one fail but I've had these so long I cant even remember. I did have a cheapo Chinese timer fail that was a freebie in a cheapo light package. The light also failed tho.

Faie enough, Ill just say the offer of help stands for anyone that wants to try the 10/10 thing, because although I am curious, the rotational day fucked me up.

Circadian rythm. Shortened cycle would work, as long as night equals day or is longer. When photosyntesis began, days werent 24 hrs long.
