No, I've never tried growing cacti from seed. All my cactus are gifts from gardening friends. Some I've had for 25 years.

The San Pedros are mostly 2 years old with the exception of the one that bloomed. It I've had for seven years, from when it was a rooted cutting with four small branches.

thank you very much . i got 5 cacti san pedro plants i started from seed about an inch lol 5 of them survived out of 10 lol they are kind of hard to get sprouted but are very nice to grow

takes alot of time 2 see them grow

Fuzzy is always around when I'm in the garden. He's been locked inside both greenhouses, the cage and the shed many times. He can climb out of the cage in about 3 seconds. Right up the chainlink.

Fuzzy is 9 years old and has spent a lot of time in my company. He really is entertaining. He likes to wake me some mornings when he believes it's time for me to get up. On those occasions, I'll open my eyes to something like:

Man, I know that feeling. Every morning my wife's dog (1 of the 6) Zenia will jump up on the bed and place her nose into her face so that she gets up to let her (Zenia) out. Like clockwork at 6:00 am. If that doesn't work I'm next, that works cause I wake the wife..lol

Usually the largest producer, this greenhouse hasn't done very well, so far, this year. Three of six plants are thriving. The others will only produce samples.

The cage is beginning to fill up. Three of the plants are going to get very large. Magic Carpet Ride, Purple(Purps? Not sure), and my Starburst which is outstanding in all three of this year's examples.

My tomato's have yet to turn red very weird. Plums have come and gone, (Santa Rosa) and were not as sweet has last year same with the blackberries. Nectarines are way down in production, 2 trees but small. Wife has melons this year and they seem to be loving it but the squash has gone wild.

You may already know this, but just in case, Tomatoes yield and ripen best when left unwatered , as much as possible, after they begin blooming. Our plums(I think they're Santa Rosa as well), were really excellent. Boysenberries were a disappointment. Peaches were pollinated lightly, like your nectarines. My melons are just beginning to set fruit, but look promising. The squash have produced hugely. I need to grow Winter squash next year. Nothing like a roasted chunk of banana squash, swimming in butter!

LOve winter squash, roasted with lots a butter, nutmeg and a touch of cinnamon. Thanks for the tip with the tomatoes, though I water most days have started to reduce amount. Lots of fruit but havn't turned red, except for the romas. Will try to get a close up of edi-cat, only comes in to eat then back to his routine of mole hunting and herding the chickens. lol
Other garden is doing good, lost a couple more lower branches on another (same) box plant. Replaced this plant about 3 weeks ago due to lower branches breaking? Have a feeling it may be the 6 chicks getting into the fenced in area, have seen them in there a few times. Chicks are under 6 months old and learing to use their wings more but small enough to get thru the field fence wire surrounding the garden.

I'd keep chickens if I could. Wrong zoning. Good tip on potential damage!

I've long used wire hooks on a custom length piece of string or twine to support broken or "split-away" branches. Once supported(assuming the bark/skin is still partially intact) the only additional measures I take are to spray the foliage to prevent or restore from wilting. If the spray doesn't revive the entire branch, I remove up to half the foliage to allow the branch a chance to heal.

With an otherwise healthy plant, this might sometimes be better than replacing the entire plant, depending on the replacement's size. I sometimes hold several extra plants in 3-5 gallon pots as insurance against unforeseen disasters. I've had windstorms destroy plants in my pretty well screened back yard.

Hey veggie! Your whole garden looks amazing man, especially those tomatoes. This year mine haven't really produced much, but I have some that are growing. Your plants in the greenhouses really seem to be thriving, making me want to get one even more.. Do you just have raised beds in yours? Your plants are massive, really looks like they're loving whatever you're doing. Definitely subbed.

Yes, my greenhouses are built with raised beds. The soil mass really helps fill up the space with buds.

Looking good VG my romas havent ripened yet here in the Bay. My peppers are finally starting to flower. All of my plants are flowering now so that is a good thing. The strawberries,cabbage,collard greenssnd beans did good this year. Keepem green dirrtyd

Everything is looking good in this greenhouse. Several plants fell far behind, but 3 are doing very well.

Got my recommendation renewed this week. Stopped by a friend's house afterward and was given two new cactus strains. I'll split them up into new pots. I want to see blossoms.
