flipping them depends on how much height you have to work with. If less good training like lst helps allot. I like a plant to show alternating nodes if from seed or fill in her pot with roots a good amount before flipping.
edit: with that said they will grow and trying diff times and ways is fun so experiment. Have fun learning and keep notes so you can try diff things till you find the way you like better.
