2023 solo cup contest..

Can’t wait to smoke on this dense baseball sized HO t-5 flouro grown magoo bud, haha. I was gonna switch to LEDs because of all the recent heatwaves, but just been letting it ride, t5 all the way baby. Havent flowered that way in a long time.

The salt build up kinda sucks in a frequently watered solo size cup, and I forgot to ph up the last few piss jugs (im used to dwc air bubbles buffering it for me at the right range and hardly use it) and got a bit K or Ca deficient on some ofthe most cooked leaves.. ah well. Almost done anyway.

I refuse to believe that a plant can be rootbound, and so tempermental in such a small cup with fat colas. I’ll force the next one to be twice as big ;)

Also can’t wait to roll up a piney soulmate joint, from the most pungent runty phenotype I’ve smelled from any pack ofthat strain. I wasn’t even expecting much, and glad I didnt cull it. Not sure it will ever finish off normally , or when.

Still alive, lol.

Trimmed up most the fan leaves, mostly because they looked bad. Heat stress, not enough air movement causing even more problems, etc.. I need to build a diy oscillating fan setup that will last in there for good.

The solo is hard as a rock & the roots are really bound up. I think I actually fried them with mosquito bits weeks ago, being paranoid & preventative about gnats, using the same amount I would normally sprinkle in a big pot of coir. It reacted weird and made the salt crystalize 3 times as bad, and turn all yellow. Shoulda used maybe one or 2 little bits per week per solo.

Anyway, finishing off a few more days with low feed and trying some finisher product (heavy 16 i think..) on the Magoo plant. Blueberry heaven! She got some huge muffins on her, bigger than expected. No nanners either, it was a single albino or light bleached leaf I saw hiding towards the back. Not bad for a bag seed. I wonder if its that bx2 or 3 version..

The plants somehow made it through another day under the hot light without water. They got one last drench yesterday, or the day before as of this writing. Ran back out because I forgot to kill the light and snapped these shots.

Letting them dry out in place on the scrog net, right in the cups as is. The plant could still technically stand without it btw, with water to weigh it down anyway.. ok maybe not, haha ;)

I milked the whole .....more weeks thing to the max, and the bigger plant got way more dense, despite a kinda severe calcium def that I let get outta control later in flower. Still a few whites on the lowers too, and here and there. Got a nice hazy blueberry tan color been developing overall too, but too hot lately to fully express much in the way of fall colors. One cola bud big as the solo cup, probably because I snapped off its sister branch months ago (that clone died from neglect btw), so it got even bigger. The snapped branch area filled out good too. It can’t possibly be the power plant pyramid that give big buds under t5s, lol.

The soulmate cup is resinous af. Glistening with trichs. My main prize :bigjoint:

I’ll dry trim it all up on the scale before the July 10 deadline.

Any guesses on how many lbs?

Well done man! That’s an epic bud for a cup!! Must’ve been the pyramid lol

I think we’ll need to get another comp set up in the near future :)

Hopefully I get an auto that takes less than 5 months for 1g xD

You can't completely reveg auto's can you? I still never grown them b4. I Been impressed with what I've seen with some of those genetics over the years though, and here in the comp too. Not sure why i never tried doing them outdoors here in the PNW to finish earlier before fall.

Lol, hopefully I can finish whatever in under 6 months next time. The winter is what really did me in earlier this year, and not having my actual flower room (or even the veg room with better lights until later on) setup and all warm to toss the solo in. Would have costed me a fortune for the extra heat for a few solos. The cold start literally added 2-3 months to the grow! Or maybe it was that dang spiral lohkovsky coil interfering with the power plant.. :wall:

Lemme know what you guy's come up with, I got more seeds of some wicked genetics to gamble on ;)
 
Just finished trimming up the blue magoo. It was drying too quick so I chopped it up and stuffed into a box at some point days ago. Let her get really ripe, so its a sweet hashy blueberry muffin smell thats really nice. Almost got a single half oz bud under daylight t-5s, lol. Not as dense as I thought it would be, but I cant complain.

Anyway, just over 56 grams for that plant, not counting the little bit of trim. I don’t even trim my buds much these days. I usually store whole branches in tubs..

The runt stayed alive on me for days, and probably still not dry for all I know, little sucker! Ill check again tonight if the branch cracks. Rather leave it all on the stick. Its really dank, with dense sativa like foxtail buds. Mmm!

It was fun! 3 lb.. I mean oz will be my new goal to beat if we do it again, with a better setup this time, and dialed in better with feedings.
