people make up lots of things to account for things they do not know.... ever read the bible?
the stress talk is an epidemic here not just in the newbie section
if anything it makes things worse, in order not to stress plants newbies fuss over their plants
often making things more complex than needed
folk thinking constant ph and nutrient adjustments are needed end up killing them by overfeeding or over watering

some folk would have you believe a plant can change sex overnight because all manor of silly things including light leaks from extension/ power cords
where did these folk get their info from, not the bible i hope lol

peace

Because they are newbies and have not mastered the skill yet. I don't diss people who are learning from their own mistakes as that's how we all get there. I would be the first man to help out a newbie where i could as i do believe we should be educating the new growers and giving them the advice and help where we can.

people think a light leak is the end of the world I have been growing with small light leak for 2 years now no problem, of course it is best to get as little leak as possible but is not the end of world. I have eft lights on for 24hr accidentally on day 42, no problem. the one that gets me the most and is great example of made up problem because you don't know what youre doing is spot on leaf from water droplet magnifying light and burning. never seen it and I have been growing on and off for well over 10 years.

Light leaks are a myth. I have proved this on plenty grows.

Stress is good for your plants as long as you don't over do it, typically controlled stress results in a stronger, healthier, and more productive plant once its finished.

Is that right as i think not.
It's called positive stress and there are so many types of stress that help your plant grow much better. There are 2 general categories of stress: Physical/mechanical stress(manipulation, pruning, denial) and Environmental/ Abiotic stress ( water, Temp/humidity, mineral deficiency or toxicity, and pests and disease).

out doors it happens naturally but indoors it is you that controls the environment making it a controlled stress in my opinion

Listen buddy. I have been growing for 11 years now. I have 3 websites and many other pages dotted around the web. I don't believe in stressing plants out to make a so called stronger plant as it's untrue. I treat my ladies with the up most care and attention and they flourish really well ever grow.

Well i am not going to be arguing with anybody on here as it's really not my thing. Everybody has differing opinions on whats what or best and i try to avoid any conflict on any forums or sites i may visit. I am just a happy camper growing fine green. :eyesmoke:

Just because you don't believe doesn't make it not true. I think you just don't understand what stress is and you probably do it because you've ben growing for so long anyway.

Pruning and training is stress, letting your medium get to the point of nearly drying out then watering stresses out the cell walls of the roots, a fan blowing on your plants creates micro-fractures in the plants stems that heal over and become stronger and thicker, Higher nutrient strengths you are effectively increasing the amount of mineral salts around the roots making it more difficult for the plant to uptake water but if done right a mild stress is induced around the roots and steer them towards generative growth.

For example, a person exercising is stressing out their body but it comes back bigger and stronger. no?

I know what you are saying buddy. Problem is i know all this and not really interested. Far to busy.

I think you're both doing a disservice by telling newbs that light leaks don't matter. Just because you are working with good genetics doesn't mean everyone is. How many people learn with bag seed? You are in the newb section ya know. Also your guys defininition of a "small light leak" isn't quantifiable. Just my opinion mind you, but my opinion is you shouldn't be telling beginners that light leaks are ok.

light leaks = bad Fact. Even moonlight stunts flower production

I just replaced all my cfl's in my basement with green cfl's so if there ever is a light leak or the tent is opened the light won't effect them.

No such thing as light leaks affecting STABLE GENETICS and yes i have experienced this on more than 6-7 grows or more. So i must be doing it wrong then after 11 years.

I sure would like to see the information about moonlight stunting flower production...
Light effects chemicals in the plant the regulate its sugar/ starch consumption and production as well as controls plant growth and speed. Moonlight is only a problem for plants during the full moon phase. Below is an article on how moonlight effects plant growth if you care to read. It's quite interesting in my opinion Alexander Supertramp
