24 hour veg period?

so i am a broke muthafucka. lets get that right out the way. broke as fuck.
so i only have two 23w cfls on two plants that are about 2 weeks old. i know this is not enough light.

but i can not afford to build my own light set up, which would cost me around $60 or $70 dollars to build because i am already stressing about bills as it is.

so i have been keeping the veg cycle at 24 hours a day for the last 3 days because i feel the plants need more light and are growing very slowly. is it ok for the plants to keep light on them for 24 hours a day?
do they need darkness at all in the veg cycle? is it very detrimental to the plants to keep a low amount of light on them for 24 hours a day until i get a proper light set up with a timer? this is the knowledge that i seek. :joint:

I always VEG for 5 weeks, with lights on 24 hours a day..........24/7.
Works best.

You can get 65 watt CFLS with regular screw-ins for $16 each at Lowes.

Well they kinda need darkness..the more light, like the 24 hour cycle, increases chances of getting males while less hours (14-18 increases chances of females. What are ya gonna do for flowering? Try and save up as much as u can.

Are you able to keep the light on for 24 hours during seedling stage?

I veg 24/7 for 5 weeks as well, it's best, creates more nodes, plant doesn't have to work for light, just has to grow bud sites basically, I also LST a little to open up for more light, but yea, go 24/7, any less just makes the plant stretch for light, which is a big no no.

I vegged last years grow using 2 X 26W on a Y splitter..(av pic and two others).. I prefer a 18/6 myself, for a couple of reasons.. .... but 24 is good... Luck.

well its no problem keeping the light on for 24 hours, but i dont want males(who does?). i have read else where, as well as intuition's post, that 24 hours of light increases chances of males. this i can not go for. i used bag seed and only have 2 plants of 5 or so that survived.(do to my poor lighting and budget situation as explained above) so the odds of getting a female of out of these are already low as it is, and if i have 24 hour light periods i feel like i am doomed to having 2 male plants.

i just dont want male plants! guess ill find out in a few weeks.

but whatever. with only 2 23w cfls on two plants, i think i prolly should keep the light on. it would just suck to get 2 useless males knowing that i spent money on electricity to raise them.

I was reading it out of this book from barnes n nobles..lower temps is better too (best when its at 77F)

This is my first time from seedling and I dont have a timer for this one, its ghetto im using a 42watter for just 1 seedling thats already sprouted...Ill be honest I have been using 24 hours of light just to test and because just like you I dont have the money or time to get up and turn the lights off or go buy a timer for it..until like next week 1/2. I heard it could take 2 to 2 weeks for it to come out of the soil. When it does ill switch it to 18/6. But yea if u can keep the light hours low and temp (im sure u done much research), you should be straight chef, take care!

in my area the energy spike is from 4-8 pm. so from 4-8 the kph rate goes up quite a bit. i go 18/6 for the electricity consumption reasons and im not complaining a bit about plant growth. after transplanting i do think 18/6 is better at least right off the bat. gives your babies a better chance to recover from the transplant shock. but since im a cheap bastard i think ill stick w/ the 18/6 all the way

oh i forgot to mention if your hella broke you could always try outdoors. little riskier but if you find the right area you could end up a much happier farmer come harvest
