24 hours before flip? Opinions?

hey,

I've heard some people gives a plant 3-5 days of 24h light before turning them to 12/12.
They are telling that will force the plant to make more knocks.

What do you think? It could be true? Won't it cost unwanted stress to plant?

Thanks! :)

It'd be the same as someone who vegitates under 24 hours of light. Might see slightly better growth with the increase of hours, assuming you don't veg under 24 hrs. I think the difference would be minimal with just a week under increased hours. That's my guess.

Try it. Won't hurt nothing

I assume you mean nodes? If your want more nodes just veg longer. Make sure you have room for flower stretch though.

MS-13,
I remember talk about this 24 hour light before flip thing...only with a different goal. By going from 24 hours light down to 12 hours sends a very clear message to the plant...time to flower. So the purpose was to kick start blooming. I never actually did it...

What is the initial growth lighting period before going to 24hrs a day pre-flower treatment?

Plants sacrifice in stress conditions to support new growth in good conditions.
Like heat burning or dropping old leaves, allowing light to reach new growing shoots down branch.

More growing points can just form many smaller buds.
There is a short period of stress in adaption to lighting change, before a swing back to 12/12.
There is a higher energy input for flower formation.

I grow on a 6/2 it's the best my plants have ever grown in veg. Then 24 hours of darkness brfore the flip. None auto.

The crop a plant can hold is mostly determined before switch, for a given treatment during flower.
But nothing much can happen with 4-5 days of 24hr light before switching.
So we rule out additional growth as insignificant.

The plant reaction to light is in accumulation or reduction.
I would conclude no benefit in any way for 4-5days at 24.
Any negative effect for 4-5days at 24 would likely be insignificant.

Increasing the number of budding points must be done during growth.

If you went from 14hrs to 24hrs light, it also increases the night time temperature.

Plants see a bigger reduction in night time temperature when changed from 24hrs to 12/12.

Initiation of Flowering could be faster in some cases, but it's questionable.
