24h for clones?

Fellow growers...

I have my veg box setup for cloning right now and I want to leave the lights on 24 hours a day to provide a heat supply. I know the topic of which is better 24/0 or 18/6 has already been worked to death, but this is a bit different.

Will I damage my clones by leaving the light on 24/0?

simply put, NO. 24 hours of light will grow them just fine.. and if they have no other heat source, 24 hours may work better for your situation. Just make sure you have some type of ventilation so they dont over heat. Good Luck!

I have great ventilation and the box works awesome for veg. Thanks for the feedback on the 24 on.

BTW: The clones were pulled from a flowering female.

do you have a humidity dome? if you do, put them in the dome with the light on them. Take it off a few times everyday for a few minutes and mist them every time. Flowered clones will take a little longer but it works.

I do have a humidity dome and I check them his morning and they looked pretty good. Only 66f in the grow box, so I turned down the ventilation to try to bring the heat up a little. I would like it at about 75f if possible.

The good news is the are not dead. ;)

I leave my lights on 24/7 for seedlings and clones for the first 3-4 weeks, all the time, after that then I switch to 18/6 for the rest of the veg phase.

Niblix is there a reason why you do that? I heard 24/7 for seedlings increases their chances of being male. I'm not sure though, I'm just wondering why you'd start with 24 and then switch to 18...why not stay 24? or why not just start at 18?

naw it does not increase their chances of being male.... you can keep them on 24hours of light, just remember weed is a WEED, what do weeds do? GROW LIKE WILD FIRE. 1st 2 weeks 24hours of light, then i change em to 18/6.

Well I do this because I use CFL's and or Floros (T-12's) for a month and since they are cheaper to run then a MH I can have them on longer, plus I can have the lights closer since they give little heat off and with a day length of 24/7 they can grow longer, as with 18/6 under the same light. Also since floros are not that bright as compared to other high end lights to begin with why not let the plant get 24/7 of light to offset the light intensity as a Mh has and costs less.

I then switch to a MH light for the remainder of the plants veg stage on 18/6 as the light is more intense and well suited for a larger area for the plants to grow out and fill.

I guess it just a personal prefrence ...

Well, I will let you all know how they do under 24/0. So far they are doing well. One of the cuttings was from a mother which was pretty burnt. Even it is doing well at this point.

As some of you know, I veg all the was through with a mix of CFLs and floros. I love them for veging. I use CFLs and HPS in my flowering chamber.
