250+ teens caught with drugs on ski trip, none arrested

Smoking cannabis can be a lifesaver for a snowboarder or skier because it protects the brain cells in case of closed head injury. And since it makes you more relaxed, you're less likely to stiffen up and get hurt worse when you fall. Just don't put your hands out to catch yourself; fall on your ass or cross your arms on your chest if you fall forward. BTW, I just bought some new snowboard boots last night. :)

250 people on mushrooms with lots of chronic going to park city utah for a week of snowboarding?

Sounds like a damn good time to me

That's seriously a lot of people though. I wonder who organized that?

Some nice glass they gave up there.
Wow i never new bongs/pipes were illegal anywhere in the world!

That could have been there papas..for smoking tobacco, And they gave it up without even being searched? WHAT LOL surely some of them had some common sense to know that it wasn't' going to be practical for the five-O to warrant a search on all of them....

I just hope they left some in there bags haha else that trip is a waste of time...They didnt go there to go skiying they went to go fly & get high man

Underage kids don't need drugs and it's good to see they didn't get taken to court and have their lives ruined by the court system. The cops were more than fair especially being in Utah.

I bet the couple kids that got caught smoking first were super happy when 250 of them got caught instead of there little group.

If the kids hadn't handed over drugs, and the cops did not search them as they are not allowed to, how would the kids have ended up in court?

I like this:
"We could have stopped and got search warrants, searched every bag, and we would have still be writing search warrants a week later because it takes so much time to do that," Zumwalt said.

Like you can detain 250 people for several days while waiting on search warrants... Illegally detaining people before you have evidence against them is a form of kidnapping - even for police.

"Hey judge can I have your permission to strip search 150 juveniles and 100 adults under the age of 20? I know at least two have pot on them." If you know any judges they would laugh their ass off.

I didn't see too many drugs there, certainly not a 'ridiculous' amount. Only the herbs handed their shit over.

Hope the rest of the ones were smart enough to put their good stuff somewhere and not say shit.

i still don't get the point.

the kids were clearly GUILTY. the cops could have "followed the books" and fucked everyone. you seem to wish for this scenario instead. WHY???

you seriously think there is something that could have protected these kids from their OWN GUILT?

or are you just being a raving pothead? ;)

most kids do not realize how stuff like this would turn out. kids are raised to fear their "permanant record" and the threat is supposed to keep them in line. i assure you it never occured to them that they all couldn't be arrested in a small town.

how many of us remember acting up in elementary school and adults would say, "keep it up. your reputation will follow you for the rest of your life" in fucking ELEMENTARY SCHOOL?? if i knew then what i know now i would have had a fuck of a lot more fun. every time i went to the next school, no teachers had even heard of me. my city has 8 public high schools and a few private ones. i'm sure they all spend their free time warning each other about thousands of kids that won't be in their class for another 10 years

the kids were probably threatened with all sorts of nonsense by the police. they were probably told if they were honest there wouldn't be any problems, and for the most part that seemed to be true (for them, anyway), except now parents are probably going to try to sue the bus company or school or whatever. that shit slays me.

all these lies we tell kids to keep them in line just makes them stupid, fearful, and reliant on "grownups" to take care of problems. fucking people in their 20's crying for mom when they get arrested, getting all scared and just spilling the beans like stupid pussies. that's what we're creating.

No, my point is that if the cops had "followed the book" they couldn't have done anything to "fuck everyone". I think it is scarey that people think the cops can illegally "fuck everyone". It is not legal to have pot on you. I agree and that is not good - you should never travel with pot across state lines - I would never condone this and I assume you wouldn't either. At the same time it is not legal for police to randomly search everyone. No, it is not obvious that all of the 250 people on the bus were criminals. I have a much greater problem with the police breaking the law than the people on the bus.

They would never have gotten search warrants - you are delusional to think they would have. No judge would ever sign off on those.

If my kid gets caught with a pipe in his hand I hope to god he gets locked up and learns his lesson. If hes walking down the street with a hippie beanie on and cop harasses him the cop is in the wrong.

Thank the lord you never dab on the road...Might have to turn yourself in right? How would you possibly live with the guilt. Sometimes I medicate and wait only 3.5 hours before driving and not the full 4...should I turn myself in?

when you get pulled over and they bring in a drug dog ....

they did NOT search anyone, the drugs were handed over.

how do people get arrested everyday for drugs on them? i'm missing the logic in your reasoning. you don't need a warrant to pat someone down.

the kids fucked up, got caught, and then were let off easy. some people just like to complain, i guess.

why did you just make this about ME? :?

You need permission to pat someone down or have good suspicion of them committing a crime. Police can not randomly go up to people and pat them down...

Why are you making this about me? I never said the kids did the wrong thing. I never said I had a problem with them fessing up their drugs. I never condoned anything they did. I pointed out that no snowboarder I know would have done the same.

You said that if they had not all given up their stashes the cops would have "fucked them". This just isn't true. All I pointed out was that the cops can't legally go around fucking everyone. I don't know what problem you have with that statement.

You then eluded that even small minor crimes should never be committed, and if so you should immediately feel guilty enough to turn yourself in while at the same time you've stated that you drive while dabbing - a clear violation of the law and most likely much more dangerous and "wrong" than some 19 year old snow boarder having pot on a bus. In my opinion your "every one should feel guilty about pot" isn't true and logically you seem to agree. I mentioned your dabbing to help point out to you that you also do not agree with the sentiments of the statement you made.

Where are you coming from here? And why are you making it about me?

i read your FIRST sentence and stopped.

they were SEEN smoking pot at a REST STOP so the cops pulled them over and sent in the dog. :wall:
