im having trouble choosing between a 250 watt or a 400 watt. my grow tent is 20" x 36" x 62". im gonna have a 190 cfm exhaust with carbon filter attached, and a 90 cfm intake fan. any advice on what would be good for my tent? ++ rep for anyone that helps me!

It's pretty small space so the 400w would get pretty hot, but if you had a vented hood it would rock that tent. So get a vented hood and rock the 400w. 250w is just going to get you smaller stuff and who cares about an extra 150w if you have your temp right. I see people in here all the time worrying about too much power, but if you shut your mouth, never show anyone, control your odor you'll be fine. Plus more light = more stuff with the other stuff in check.

I would go with the 250 in that small of a room
Why? Would you vent it? Why not 400w vented? I see people all the time here not using enough light and wondering why they didn't get shit. I would still rock the 400W with a vented hood. It would be nice if you gave some reasoning for that answer. More light = fatter shit

i was thinking of making a cooltube for a wing reflector. might just go with a 400 watt vented hood because i do want a big yield. i was thinking of puting 4 plants with the 400 watt, scrog style without the topping because of lack of space

I used 300watts of Hps for that amount of space and still controlled my temps to be a highest of 82.F and below. I had seperate lamps which created more heat. If i only had a 400hps with a cooltube, my temps would easily be controllable, too....i think.

I have a Q?
Im going with a 24"x48"x60" grow hut...I plan on getting a 400 watt switch able ballast and a190 CFM 4" fan/filter combo. Im a noob so please take it easy on me. My Idea was to go with a set up similar to the one pictured except I want to run a passive intake system maybe just some duct leading fresh air in from my window( and I wonder how well the pictured set up works as far as intake and ventilation). The question is , will the 400 Watt light be overkill for my small space? and what is the ideal number of plants I can fit in a space like this? I plan on going with some indicas and Im gona go with soil & Is the passive intake Idea a good one? Im scared that bugs can come in threw the duct....
& & & sorry for so many &'s I have too many Q?

400 watts is good for your grow, you could even throw a 600 in there. im gonna grow 8-10 plants without topping lst or any other technique or 4 plants in a scrog. you should be good with that fan filter combo, the filter in that picture for the intake is not needed

you might be able to pull it off as long as you don't get a light with the ballast attached to the hood. this is a pretty small space for a 400w but you could pull it off with proper ventilation and airflow but use your hygrometer and monitor the tent to see what the temps/humidity are. If you're only planning on growing 2-4 smaller plants then i would go with the 250. plants will gro at 85 F but they wont like like it. also helps if you have central air and can keep the room temp down and pump fresh air into the tent.

and no a passive intake won't work it will just get tooo hot. if you can move the tent near a window and try to pump air with some ducting and a small fan into the tent. if you can buy a squirrel cage fan and turn that thing on full power sucking in fresh air. you can use ducting with a piece of cloth or a safe kind of insulation on the end of the duct as a kind of filter to keep the bugs out. optimally you would want to get a squirrel cage fan with a hepa filter pumping fresh air into the tent. do this and you could probably pull it off depending on what kind of room temps you get in your area. monitor the tent with the light in it before you stick the plants in there just to be sure if you can. airflow is more important than what your thermometer says in my opinion. hope this helps!

oh and if you have to go with the 250w get a bunch of daylight cfls to stack in there too. they dont give off much heat but will help up your lumens in there for sure
