250w HPS closet planning help needed

Okay so, HI!

The size of my closet is:
6ft tall
1.5ft deep
2.5ft wide

Originally i was thinking i could put a 400w there but i realized that it's nearly impossible to do so, so im back at 250w HPS. My main question is - Is this place suitable for a 250w HPS? My second question is what cfm rate fans i am looking for? 1 In and 1 Out but what cfm? will pc fans do it?? Is there a way i can calculate the cfm needed?
Thanks in advice :)

Hey man how's it goin? I hav e recently built a 250w cab that is 32"x20"x 60". Sound kind a familiar? I'd like to share what i've discovered so far about the ventilation. I'm still gearing up to take it for a spin but i've gone through a lot of testing and here's what I've come up with. I'm using a 250w lumatek dial a watt remote ballast so i can run mh and hps cool tubed in 150w,175w, or 250w, depending on the situation. I've got a 240cfm fan for exhausting the cab via cool tube and a 80 cfm for intake. the exhaust goes into a cloning/seedling chamber above and is then sucked through a 210 cfm filter with another 240cfm fan. My temps peak at about 25C. Which in my mind is pretty fuckin good. I also tried the 250w bare bulb with pretty much the same outcome. Since I'm growing vert, I opted for the cooltube for the added protection (the buds can grow right up against the glass without burning). So to make a long story short I think you could easily get away with a 200cfm exhaust and 80cfm intake. Here's a pick of the cab.

it is suitable for 250w.
you need to exchange air 2-3x per minute. calculate your cubic feet multiply by 3. you can get fan controler set it on low or medium will make fan much more silent. you dont need intake fan, just holes for passive intake and exhaust fan does the rest. actually if you have a smaller intake fan than exhaust, you might diminish aeration than if you only had exhaust with beg enough intake hole

So my cubic feet is 6x1.5x2.5= 22.5x3=67.5 is 67.5CFM needed to exchange the air in the closet once, or am i mistaken? Can you help me out abit mr zem?

thats right, 22.5 cubic feet 67.5 cfm exchanges 3x per minute. you could get the 240 cfm, more is usually better + fans lose venting power with ducts and curves. you could use fan controler on medium or low it will make almost no noise this way

Yes he more the better.
I have a cab that is 2w x 2d x 4t and I am running a pc fan that is rated at 253 cfm although I have some ducting. So it's needed. I am also running a 250 ballast is outside the cab. Temps range from 75-80 daytime 64 at night

thats exact. good post. describes exactly how i do it only with couple 400's. i shrink my box just to the right size so that i vent with a small 6" metallic fan ballasts outside no ducts at all. still no cooltube but it's just 4ft high it's like a big cooltube itself :)

If you do get it for any reason I would recommend a fan control to get that goldylox speed where it ain't whaling but still performing correctly. So yea I did dampen the noise slot with a card board box that has the attachment to my carbon filter. When the filter is on. Not so loud. But kinda still lol
